Since its broad Netflix release in 2020, the movie “365 Days” has enjoyed tremendous popularity. Despite the absurdity of the real plot of the movie, many were easily seduced by Laura and Massimo. Since “365 Days” was published on February 7, 2020, admirers have not been satisfied, and many of them are now searching for similarly spicy mainstream movies to satisfy their desire for more from this steadily growing subgenre.
Although no other film has exactly the same aesthetic as “365 Days,” there are a lot of others that have been released over the years.
1. “Fifty Shades Of Grey.”
The film that popularised this subgenre is “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The movie centers on Anastasia Steele, a young college senior who does an interview with Christian Grey, a rich businessman, for the newspaper she works for, and is based on the enthralling book series that lit up the world in 2011. Christian’s sexual desires, which involve both pleasure and pain, come out as the two become enamored with each other, and she is dragged into a frenzied sexual encounter.
With a winding plot that will keep you watching, the flicks go deeper than the pain and pleasure components. The series comprises three films, which makes it ideal for binge-watching. Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Rita Ora, and Luke Grimes all appear in the film.
2. “Amar.”
Amar is a Spanish movie about Laura and Carlos, who have an intense, confusing relationship that lasts for a year. Laura dreams of being pregnant one day as she breaks free from her past existence, and the two decide to love each other as if every day was their last. When it was first published in 2017, audiences loved Amar for its numerous steamier sex scenes despite its strong focus on the relationship between these two characters.
Along with coping with the intensity of the abrupt relationship, it has a similar European feel to 365 Days.
3. “After.”
In “After,” there are fewer graphic sexual encounters, and more emphasis is placed on Tessa and Hardin’s passionate but turbulent relationship. Tessa is a young, naive character. The success of the movie hasn’t been hindered by the fact that its source material for its adaptation was fanfiction about One Direction.
After all, even some of the most clichéd rom-coms have excellent performances. If anyone hasn’t seen it yet, now is a good time to jump on the hype train because there are two more sequels and a prequel planned for the franchise, regardless of whether the writing is up to par. Fans of this narrative simply can’t get enough, and fans of the “365 Days” series will also enjoy the abundance of sensual moments.
4. ” Pleasure or Pain.”
Despite their differences, the two main characters in this film fall in love. Jack is a prosperous retail real estate entrepreneur. Also, Victoria is a lovely young designer. Victoria abandons her regular life when she and Jack click to start a relationship. They both enter into an erotic fantasy together while she is with him, and neither of them wants to leave.
The movie is similar to 365 Days in that it depicts the love story of two very different people and features a lot of hot sequences. In this sexy suspense film, Christos Vasilopoulos and Malena Morgan appear.
5. The Voyeurs.
The Voyeurs take a slight detour from the identical tone of 365 Days, but fans will still be enthralled by the tale of a young couple who get obsessed with their neighbors’ extramarital affairs. A young woman who can’t stop staring at another pair and her growingly worried boyfriend is portrayed by Sydney Sweeney and Justice Smith.
It deals with people’s preoccupation with taboo sex and only features a few steamier scenes, but fans of movies like 365 Days might be able to relate to it. The movie takes some interesting turns along the way that will keep viewers interested until the very end.
6. The Boy Next Door.
You’ll adore The Boy Next Door if you like the “thriller” portion of 365 Days; this sensual thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat. Claire Peterson notices that she is beginning to like her new neighbor, Noah.
The boy she becomes best friends with is her son, Noah, who is 19 years old. He is friends with her kid, but it doesn’t stop them from succumbing to temptation and having a sensual liaison. But when Noah develops an obsession with her and makes plans to murder her husband and take over his life, things get much worse. Jennifer Lopez, renowned for Enough, The Wedding Planner, Hustlers, Marry Me, Maid In Manhattan, and The Back-Up Plan, is a leading lady in the film.
7. Elles.
365 Days ought to be ideal if someone wants more of the European aesthetic that 365 Days embodies. This French-Polish movie, which follows a writer who is preparing an article about prostitution, explores a variety of sexual and emotional issues. The interview scenes between the journalist and two prostitutes are the main subject of the film, in which they discuss their various experiences throughout the years and their attitudes toward their jobs.
The journalist’s connection with her husband, as well as how this may eventually affect them, are also revealed. Elles does an admirable job of keeping the scenes exciting for the audience, despite the fact that it is a quieter, more introspective film than some of the others in this piece.
8. Newness.
Two young millionaires in Los Angeles spend the majority of their time on dating apps, swiping left and right. Hooking up and “enjoying” their lives are their only obsessions. A “no strings attached” relationship, which we all know never works out for both of you, is chosen by the pair after spending months on a dating app and matching.
Their boundaries are tested physically and intellectually during their new relationship. If you enjoyed following the progress of love over 365 days, you’d adore Newness. Nicholas Hoult, Laia Costa, Danny Huston, Pom Klementieff, and Matthew Gray Gubler are among its cast members.
9. Killing Me Softly.
An American woman named Alice resides in London. Her life appears to be going well, and she is happy with her boyfriend, job, and home. That is, until she encounters Adam, a fascinating and attractive stranger, and is immediately captivated by him.
Due to their strong sexual connection, Alice ends her relationship with her boyfriend and marries Adam in an unexpected turn of events. While at first, everything is beautiful, Alice eventually learns that the man she married isn’t really who he claims to be.
10. Nymphomaniac: Vol 1.
A number of well-known actors are involved in the Danish sexual drama Nymphomaniac. However, I’ll get to that later. The two-part sexual epic has elements of the 365 Days movie in it. It centers on Joe, a strong-willed woman who wants to have sex as frequently as she can since her sexual desires have taken control of her.
She declares herself to be a nymphomaniac. She is assaulted and left in an alleyway, but a man rescues her and brings her back to his apartment. The two get intensely sexually involved while she is there. Uma Thurman, known for her roles in Kill Bill, Batman & Robin, Pulp Fiction, Imposters, and Burnt, plays the lead in this film. She is joined by Christian Slater, Stacy Martin, Shia LaBeouf, and Stellan Skarsgard.
11. American Kamasutra.
Similar to the 365 Days sequels, American Kamasutra is dark and frightening and aims to keep viewers on the edge of their seats while providing explosive love scenes. A young woman named Ashley develops feelings for a local romance writer.
She is, however, thrown into a dangerous love triangle and starts to learn more and more secrets about the people in her life. A seemingly innocent woman chooses the wrong man yet again and pays a high price for it.
12. Original Sin.
Julia, a young lady, plans to marry the wealthy Luis. Everything appears to be going according to plan up until she begins to develop feelings for him. This gold digger apparently cheated by biting off more than she could chew. The film depicts the interaction between a wealthy and powerful man and his new love interest, much like 365 Days.
Original Sin is the film you need if you’ve been looking for something to take the place of 365 Days. The film’s star, Angelina Jolie, is well-known for her roles in Tomb Raider, Gone in 60 Seconds, Wanted, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Salt, Maleficent, and Changeling. Antonio Banderas, who has appeared in films such as Once Upon A Time In Mexico, The Mask Of Zorro, The 13th Warrior, Desperado, Assassins, and Evita, joins her.
13. With You Until End Of The World.
Amar should appeal to anyone who enjoyed the European flair of 365 Days. A young, passionate couple named Laura and Carlos are the subjects of this Spanish erotica. They are madly in love and decide to live each day in the present, loving each other as much as they can.
Their romantic and sexual development are examined in the film. Deeper themes are also covered as viewers dig into the grownup issues that could separate the two and put an end to their raging fire.
14. Don Jon.
Porn addict Jon tries to find happiness in this 2013 rom-com loaded with sex, and he builds his entire existence around his addiction to porn. But when he meets Barbara, she stands out from the other women. But can she live up to the inflated expectations Jon has because he watches too much porn? Or will it get to his new love interest too much?
Julianne Moore, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Scarlett Johansson all appear in this film. Whatever void there are 365 Days left, Julianne Moore’s “powerful performance” (The Guardian) and the sex-focused plot will help fill it.
15. Y Tu Mama Tambien.
The days when most people viewed sexy movies as little more than gratuitous sex scenes with little to no plot depth are long gone. In reality, Alfonso Cuarón’s film Y Tu Mama También is regarded as one of his masterpieces and adds complexity to the genre.
The film follows Julio and Tenoch, two youngsters, as they recount their exciting summer spent with an elderly widow. With a coming-of-age plot, it combines aspects of classic road movies. Even though it became famous for its sex scenes, there is undoubtedly more to this film than just that. For anyone looking for movies like 365 Days, this classic is a must-watch.
16. Cruel Intentions.
Evil bets are made by millionaire Sebastian and Kathryn on whether Sebastian can “de-fower” their principal’s daughter. However, while Sebastian tries to win her over, he finds himself falling in love with her, which presents him with a problem. His resentful sister intends to make him keep the wager, however.
The film is similar to 365 Days in that its sexually charged plot keeps you on edge; it’s a terrific film to watch after seeing 365 Days and its sequel. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, and Reese Witherspoon all appear in the film.
17. Slipping Beauty.
Contrary to what the title might suggest, Julia Leigh’s 2011 erotic drama film is anything but a sweet fairytale. Emily Browning plays Lucy, a young college student who decides to take up a lucrative escort profession serving wealthy men. She is portrayed by Emily Browning in the film.
The concept appears simple enough, but there is a requirement that Lucy takes a sedative and remains unconscious the entire time. This act alone is intended to satisfy the men’s unconscious imaginations even though there is no sex involved. Although the idea is a little odd, watch the film to learn why it belongs on our list.
18. Basic Instinct
If you know, you know, “that legs moment” from this neo-erotic thriller is legendary. The plot of the film centers on Detective Nick Curran, who is looking into the horrible killing of Johnny. He goes for Johnny’s girlfriend because he thinks she’s guilty, and he wants to learn the truth.
But when he falls for her, everything starts to fall apart. Sharon Stone, Michael Douglas, and Jeanne Tripplehorn are the cast members of Basic Instincts.
19. Blue Valentine
When it comes to cinematography and narrative, many people consider Blue Valentine to be a masterpiece. From the sweet beginning to the bitter finish, this dark and dramatic story follows a couple’s wildly erratic romance.
There are numerous sensual scenes that give it just the right amount of spice, despite the fact that it feels more like arthouse fare and may not be the first film that springs to mind when discussing films that are comparable to 365 Days. Don’t forget that it also included Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, two of Hollywood’s hottest actors.
20. Addicted
The next film on our list of “365 Days” equivalents is Addicted. The story follows Zoe, a woman whose life appears to be ideal on the surface. She has a dangerous secret, though, and it could ruin her marriage and the life she has created for herself.
After all, a sex addict won’t be content with a monogamous relationship. Although Zoe’s existence is precarious, the resulting movie is immensely entertaining.
21. Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
It is somewhat dissimilar to 365 Days but shares many similarities with it as well. After being released from a mental institution, former patient Ricky decides to kidnap porn star Marina Osorio.
In Ricky’s imagination, if he abducts her, she will fall in love with him, and he can then wed her. However, in practice, this is unlikely to occur. After 365 days, you’ll still be delighted by this dark romantic comedy. Antonio Banderas, Victoria Abril, and Loles Leon all appear in it.
22. Ending beginning
This upcoming movie will help if you were unable to get enough of Jamie Dornan’s performance in Fifty Shades of Grey. There are some nasty sequences to enjoy, along with a decent story, even though it is more of a love drama than outright erotica.
We strongly suggest seeing this one if you enjoy sexual flicks with a dash of humor.
23. Below Her Mouth
You can compare watching Below Her Mouth to watching 365 Days because of its intensely emotional and sensual plot. The film focuses on Dallas and Jasmine, two women who are having a passionate relationship while secretly hiding it from their partners.
The two reevaluate their lives as a result of their affair and consider their true goals in life. Like 365 Days with an LGBTQ twist, Below Her Mouth is similar. “Steamy sex scenes, but not much more,” a Hollywood reporter said of the film. Let’s not pretend that watching this movie for the plot is bothersome; it shouldn’t be.
24. Betty Blue
Betty Blue, which debuted in 1986, is one of the most recognizable and well-regarded pornographic film classics. Jean-Jacques Beineix, a renowned director, based it on Philippe Dijan’s novel of the same name for the big screen.
It is a psychological drama with elements of romance as the female character eventually turns insane. Its stunning cinematography also depends on creating a seductive atmosphere to attract viewers. It is just as intriguing as the hot sequences.
25. Shame
Brandon has a sex problem. He watches an absurd quantity of porn and frequently sleeps with prostitutes to satisfy his deep-seated sexual urges. His sister’s extended stay in his New York apartment, though, causes a major alteration in his life. 26. Sex Doll
Many people find it difficult to resist the draw of the underworld and what is considered taboo. The movie Sex Dolls immerses you right in action in the world of affluent London called girls.
Amoureux Solitaires, the protagonist, tells us all the naughty details of her time working as a French escort in Virginie. As it follows a fairly well-known plot and features a tonne of sex, the film is extremely similar to 365 Days. If you liked 365 Days, this movie is a must-see. 36. 9 1/2 Weeks.
One of the most well-known erotic films ever produced, 9 1/2 Weeks, was not well received in the US when it was first released in its heavily edited form, but its uncensored version caused a stir worldwide and significantly increased its box office take.
