The infamous cook-off series, MasterChef Australia, will be coming out with a new episode this week. Now that only a few contestants are left, the finale of MasterChef Australia Season 15 is closer than ever before.
Shows where contestants compete for the ultimate prize are always interesting, but when it comes to competing using food, it’s a different story. After airing multiple shows around the world, the MasterChef Franchise stands out as the most loved cooking show ever.
Each country has its version, its judges, and its own rules (to an extent). MasterChef Australia currently has Andy Allen, Jock Zonfrillo, and Melissa Leong as its judges and hosts.
Season 15 started with a total of 18 contestants, and now that only two more episodes are left of the season, only a few contestants remain. The top 5 contestants of MasterChef Australia Season 15 were Brent, Cath, Declan, Theo, and Rhiannon. With the unforgiving finale set to happen next week, the anxiety and determination are only getting stronger.
MasterChef Australia Season 15: What Has Happened So Far?
In the previous episodes of MasterChef Australia, the contestants had to go through various immunity challenges to secure a position within the final top 5. After the Mystery Box challenge last week, the contestants all managed to impress the judges with their clever use of ingredients.
It was time for a sweet challenge, and the guest for such a challenge was none other than the chocolate queen, Kirsten Tibballs.
Kirsten walks in with a basket full of her favorite dessert ingredients. Brent feels nervous as it’s not what he’s usually used to working with. This challenge with Kirsten was going to be a two-round challenge.
For both rounds, the contestants would have to use the same basket of ingredients Kirsten brought. They have to complete both rounds in 90 minutes and bring their dishes to the judges on time. After a crazy hectic dessert-making session, the contestants start presenting their dishes.
Rhiannon brings her dish first, and it’s a lemon cake with raspberry sauce. Malissa makes a chocolate parfait and almond crumb. Cath presents the judges with chocolate mousse with cream. Declan makes Choux buns with raspberry craquelin and hazelnut praline.
He manages to impress the judges and Kirsten with his amazing dish. The judges choose to put Declan in the top 5. Rhiannon, Malissa, and Cath now had to use the remaining time and ingredients for the next round.
For this next round, Cath makes Flourless Chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream, while Malissa presents a Hazelnut Ice cream sandwich with chocolate ganache. Rhiannon’s dish doesn’t look good due to the less time.
However, despite the presentation, Rhiannon’s flavors manage to stand out. Malissa was chosen as the contestant to go home last week. In the recent pressure test, the contestants had to make a Mexican-themed dish that would give its maker immunity.
