Rent a Girlfriend Season 2 ended on quite a bittersweet note, with Mizuhara’s grandmother on her deathbed and Mizuhara herself feeling despondent and hopeless. Mizuhara’s longstanding dream of showing her grandmother a movie where she is the actress seems far away now after facing constant rejection and being unable to land any role at all.
It doesn’t help that her grandmother’s health is extremely frail and failing every day. Mizuhara knows that her grandmother doesn’t have much longer to live. Rent a Girlfriend Season 3 will be centered around Mizuhara trying to fulfill her dream of starring in a movie and showing her accomplishment to her grandmother. Kazuya will play an integral part in making her dream come true after coming up with a great plan on Mizuhara’s behalf, as shown in the last season.
The emotional journey of making the movie will be arduous, but with determination and patience, Mizuhara and Kazuya might be able to pull this grand feat off, especially with the help of their friends. In the previous season of Rent a Girlfriend, we learn more about Mizuhara’s ambition of becoming an actress and the factors that led to it. Mizuhara’s grandmother Sayuri was an actress, and Mizuhara was greatly inspired after watching her grandmother on screen.
Mizuhara’s grandfather supported her immensely, but he meets an unfortunate accident and ended up in the hospital, showing no sign of getting any better. Before he passed away, Mizuhara’s grandfather told her that she would become a splendid actress one day.
Since then, Mizuhara has tried her best to try and accomplish that, but no result to show for all her efforts. As Mizuhara loses hope and reads all the rejection letters, Kazuya comes to her with a silver lining.
Kazuya started a crowdfund for Mizuhara to raise the budget for an indie film that he plans on making with her, featuring Mizuhara as the lead actress. When Kazuya came to Mizuhara, they had already raised 70% of the money, and learning this made Mizuhara very hopeful.
Even then, there are several obstacles that the two of them must clear to make their efforts bear fruit. Kazuya estimated that it would take another month to raise the money and one more month of working hard day and night to make the film. Kazuya and Mizuhara are working with a limited budget on tight deadlines, but all hope is not lost after all.
