The Hit List Season 5 Episode 6 is ready to bring us yet another round of guessing hit shows and artists. Developed by the BBC and hosted by Marvin and Rochelle Humes, this wildly entertaining program is a music-based quiz show that will put your musical knowledge to the test. It’s a great option to watch with the family if you have musical taste and are savvy for the current hit list of songs.
The Hit List has two variants of the show in Finland and the Netherlands that were adapted to the local market in 2020. However, the current program airs recurrently on BBC, now, on its fifth season, the show is still to receive a green light from the production team for a sixth installment. However, the episodes keep running, and the contestants keep coming. Now, let’s take a look a this show’s dynamics.
How Is The Hit List Structured?
The contestants try to name huge hits from various eras over the course of three rounds. For a chance to win £10,000, the teams must demonstrate their ability to recognize songs from all musical genres.
Round 1
The teams are played a selection of music videos from popular songs in Round 1, and they are required to press their buzzer whenever they recognize a song. Since every song in this round has a specific theme, competitors may need to distinguish between two songs by the same author or recall which song peaked at number two when another did. To respond quickly enough, the teams must rely on their musical memory. The first two teams to provide five accurate responses advance to round two.
Round Two
Before the timer expires, the two remaining teams must recognize a variety of song titles and artists by listening to the beginnings of the songs. Teams are provided with visual cues to aid them, such as a map indicating the singer’s native country or a picture of a well-known person who is mentioned in the lyrics. Each team has to race against the clock to finish before their time runs out. The team that runs out of time first is out, and the other team moves on to the Final.
Round Three
The final team must identify ten songs and artists in Round Three, The Final Chart Rundown before the money runs out. The team will have £10,000 available at the beginning of the round, but after five seconds of each track, the money will start to disappear at a rate of £100 per second. The winning team will take whatever money is still in the pot if they can correctly identify ten song titles and artists before it is all gone. If not, they will be sent home empty-handed (this rule does not apply to the Celebrity Specials, where celebrities who fail will be sent home with £500 for their preferred charities).
