Wouldn’t your emotions be in a frenzy if the sea ferry you boarded, thinking you would safely reach your destination, sinks in no time? What would your thoughts consist of moments before you died?
Made in the direction of T.J. Scott, the suspense-thriller series titled “Departure” is based on a similar concept with around five hundred passengers boarding a sea ferry only for it to sink within moments, leaving the passengers scraping to survive.
Produced by none other than Julie Lacey and Tina Gerwal, the series lead cast stars Christopher Plummer playing the role of Howard Lawson, senior manager at TSIB, Archie Panjabi playing the role of Kendra Malley, a TSIB investigator.
Kris Holden Ried plays the role of Dominic Hayes, an investigator at TSIB, and Mark Randall plays the role of Theo, another investigator at TSIB. Created and written by Vince Shaio, the series is well-received amongst the audience with its distinctive plotline.
Released on 8 October 2020, the series has run for three successful seasons with 14 episodes. The series had just enough alluring elements to gain viewers’ curiosity, but it lacked the execution required for it to be perfect.
Departure mostly had a positive response from the audience as the performance of the lead cast managed to capture their hearts, The emotions of fright and grief were portrayed perfectly in the third season of the series.
Craig Wright did unbelievable cinematography for the suspense-thriller series. Universal TV aired the episodes of the exciting and intriguing suspense thriller series. The third season of the beloved drama series is ongoing, and three episodes of the same have aired. Eric McCormack joined the cast of Departure for the series’ third season.

Departure Season 2- Recap
The second season of the Grippling series focuses on the crash of an automated high-speed train and the reason behind the crash. The second season begins with the derailing of Apollo, an automated high-speed train traveling from Toronto to Chicago.
The train lost its control and ended up hitting a tanker at the railway crossing on a turn as the train was traveling at the speed of 140 Km/hr. This accident leads to the death of seventy-two passengers, including Walter Mack, the train driver.
Kendra Malley and Theo, her assistant fly to assist with the FTSA investigation after Howards request Kendra to take up the case. Kendra works with Ellen, an FBI agent and Charllote to find clues and solve the case by finding the reason behind the derailment of the train.
Later Kendra and her team are joined by Dom for the investigation of the ongoing case of a train derailment. One of the prime passengers who died in the train derailment included Philip, one of the actual designers of Apollo software. During Philip’s autopsy, it gets revealed that Philip was shot in the head from a close range.
Jordan Coles, URSA’s C.E.O, arrives at the crime scene to assist and assure the police during the investigation. Jordan and Philip used to study together during their college days. Jordan refuses to provide Apollo’s software login data to the police and the investigating team during the investigation.
The black box with the voice recording of Walter gets found later. Meanwhile, Kendra and her team got hold of Bill Ratch, who gets fired from the company after the crash. There are survivors of the train derailment scattered around, including a young boy named Lucas.
Lucas lost his mother in the train derailment accident, and the investigation team of the case handed over the custody of the child. Max, a fugitive, was on the run from the FBI, but after the accident, Max gets on amicable terms with Kendra.
Max’s angel lead the investigating team to potential gang members that may have been involved in the train accident. Max is shot after someone instigated by Diane’s statement decides to end his life. Max gets admitted to the same hospital where the young child, Lucas is also admitted.
Max gives Kendra a courier with a microchip having the financial records of the drug cartel leading the investigators to come one step closer to the gang’s involvement in the accident. Meanwhile, Max heads to Chicago to meet his friend Emilio. Ellen captures the gang members of Ortega with Max’s help, but in a twist, it gets revealed that Ortega and their cartel are innocent in the train derailment case.
After several twists and turns, it gets revealed that the train derailment plan was made by none other than Richard Bright, the son of Diane Bright. Richard made the plan as he hoped to buy URSA, but Philip and Conor weren’t interested in selling the company.
So, in the end, Richard made a plan of mass murder to lower the price of stocks in the company. And for everyone interested in knowing what happened to little Lucas, he went to live with his grandfather.
Departure Season 3- Filming Locations
Departure Season 3 was filmed in three locations, St. John’s, Toronto, and Newfoundland, and got released in August of 2023.
1. Newfoundland, Canada
Newfoundland, an alluring province in Canada in the easternmost part of the country, was used by the production crew of Departure to film most of the significant parts of the film. The scene with the passengers boarding the ferry to travel to Newfoundland, Canada, is speculated to be filmed in this location.
2. Toronto
Toronto, one of the most populous cities of Ontario, was used by the crew of Departure for the filming of some of the prominent scenes of the movie. The location was selected by the crew for its calm and serene surrounding filled with natural beauty.
