Futurama made its way back to Hulu; we’re halfway at the episode run for this season. With its futuristic approach of mocking current issues like crypto, distribution chain problems, and the works, Futurama manages to entertain its audience just like shows that go in that same vein. Today, we’re going to take a look at what went down with episode five of this new iteration.
Futurama season eight kicked off right at the end of July 2023; it is supposed to have a twenty-episode run in two parts. The revival includes all the show’s original voice cast, and it seems it will be a good one, considering the reception. Now, let’s look at a few things concerning this episode.
Futurama Season 8 Episode 5 Recap
This episode is titled “Related to Items You’ve Viewed.” If you’ve ever shopped online, you’re familiar with that phrase. It is the kind of phrase that websites like Amazon use to let you know they’re tracking down your habits. And this episode is nothing but a satire of Amazon’s method of selling you stuff you don’t need.
We kick off with Leela moving in with Fry, something that makes Bender extremely upset and full of jealousy. In his anger, Bender switches jobs, leaves Planet Express, and starts working at Momazon, a mockery of Jeff Bezos’s mega-corporation that Mom owns. At Momazon, things work like Amazon: A workforce that’s exploited without any qualms until their mental health and other issues start to surface, only to be replaced with the next best thing.
At Momazon, Bender realizes that even though robots do the backbreaking work, it’s no job for him. He’s better off at Planet Express, so he, in the vein of The Police’s “message in a bottle,” sends out an SOS to Fry and Leela to get his metal ass out of there.
Like Amazon, Momazon took over the world with its many dystopic warehouses and distribution networks, up to a point where Momazon’s warehouses are a global menace. Like Amazon, Momazon keeps growing, turning commerce into a black hole.
Meanwhile, Leela and Fry have their first fight after shacking up together in rather hilarious acknowledgment that their relationship is blossoming and becoming fruitful. On the other hand, Bender is coming to terms with the corporate work of the Amazon; rather, Momazon variety isn’t his thing. He might be a robot, but he has standards:
Of the low kind, of the kind where nothing gets done. After all, he’s like the most based character around Futurama. The Futurama crew has a few worries about this situation: for one part, they are concerned that they won’t get their goods from anywhere else, but the nitty gritty here is that Bender, after that brief stint at that corporate juggernaut, finally came to terms with reality:
He’s going to be a third wheel with Fry and Neela, and he’s better off at Planet Express.

Futurama Season 8 Episode 5 Review
Shows like Futurama come and go and morph with the times and demand. This program was revived for a third time on Hulu, and the fans can’t get enough of it. I am not a Futurama fan, but I can understand why people like it.
This episode sets us right in the middle of the season; previous episodes have been okay. Futurama is a bit like Family Guy, something different with the same characters every time, or The Simpsons, for that matter, but it still gets the job done if you want some entertainment.
This episode sees David A. Goodman return to Futurama as a scriptwriter, and that’s a good thing for the series because he’s credited with penning the best episodes of past seasons; the man is a good writer, showing his skills on rival shows like Family Guy or even in unrelated shows like Star Trek: Enterprise. Lastly, to catch past seasons of Futurama, you have a few options like Hulu, SyFy, or Fox.
