The series throws light on a police procedural drama where we see the police solving crimes, and later, the case is handed over to the lawyers, who make sure the convicted person goes to jail. Shaw decided to stand up for his people and make a change by filing a complaint against the white cop.

Although, people around him knew how hard it would be moving forward from here because the system was kind of wrong, and it would take years to fix it. But it is what Shaw did that is going to make a change for the future generation. Although, it was pretty understandable for Shaw because he felt really alone with the whole complaint thing and no one joining him for the same cause.

The seniors were all about how it made the department look because they did not want anything coming back to them. Despite the fact that it was really difficult for him to move against his fellow white seniors who were always advising him against the same, and even the Black guy at Internal Affairs was not ready to make waves with him.

But if he does not stand up for what is right, then who is ever going to? Although, one thing that he did extremely wrong was not told tell Price about the whole thing ahead of time. The defense would have surely brought up the same in order to use against him.
