As the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series nears its conclusion, Ewan McGregor’s lead Jedi is beginning to reclaim his role as a heroic character from the prequel era of the saga. While dealing with his internal remorse about what he caused to Anakin Skywalker at the climax of “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith,” his goal to save little Leia Organa helped him reconnect with the Force. Fans have previously witnessed how the terrible events on Mustafar transformed Anakin Skywalker into the monstrous Sith Lord Darth Vader, and Vader is anxious to exact revenge on his old master at this point in his journey. So, let us look at the reaction by the fans to Anakin Skywalker appearing in Kenobi.
Episode III’s conclusion shows Vader’s brutality, as he carelessly murders several citizens on Mapuzo before dragging Kenobi through a roaring inferno similar to the one he experienced. It’s intriguing to see how “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is figuring things out in Vader’s storyline, and Hayden Christensen just stated that after the series concludes, he’s open to spin-offs. Now that the Jedi have regained control of the Force after all these years, the ground has been set for the all-important showdown between Vader and Kenobi. Remember, he’s hesitant to face his former padawan in Episode III, hardly defending himself. Thus their next encounter should be something remarkable.
Anakin Skywalker In Obi-Wan Kenobi
Since Disney revealed that Hayden Christensen would return to play Anakin Skywalker, fans had hoped for flashbacks to the prequel period, and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Episode V succeeded in that hope. The episode is set against a dueling session between the master and his padawan — who still has his hair straightened — in which Kenobi teaches him the significance of not putting too much emphasis on winning a fight. Even after Anakin is unarmed, the older Jedi reminds out that there are multiple ways to fight in a battle, using the Force to defeat Anakin in their training duel.
It’s a heartfelt scene that runs throughout the episode, and it’s wonderful to see McGregor and Christensen get some quality screen time together. Because of the duo’s hair and clothes, the scene appears to take place just before the incidents of “Episode II – Attack of the Clones.” Apparently, this lesson is intended to tie to the incidents on Jabiim, as Kenobi once again demonstrates that fighting isn’t limited to the use of a lightsaber. He utilizes his diplomatic abilities to obtain access to Reva’s (Moses Ingram) mind and learn the truth about her horrible Order 66 experience owing to Anakin, eventually turning the Advocate against Vader. It’s a brilliant strategy that results in a dramatic battle between Reva and Vader.
Fans’ Reaction To Anakin Skywalker’s Return
Obi-Wan Kenobi regains its direction. Fans were hovering above the show after last week’s episode 4, with many openly dissing the episode. However, episode 5 is back for salvation, as fans on Twitter expressed their delight with the episode, even proclaiming it to be the finest yet.
Days after Hayden Christensen’s major surprise comeback in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, Anakin Skywalker’s identity continues to trend on social media. Apart from fans delving deeper into the flashback of Anakin practicing with Obi-Wan for some strong emotional Easter eggs, Christensen’s return sparked a flood of nostalgia from Star Wars Prequel Trilogy fans – as well as a desperate desire to see some more of Hayden Christensen within Star Wars franchise in the future.
Even though both actors were noticeably older than they had been the last time they were dressed in those costumes, viewers appeared mostly delighted to see Christensen with McGregor truly on screen together at the same time. Of course, this wasn’t the only time Christensen fans were treated to a Christensen flashback. We got a glimpse of Anakin when he stormed the temple immediately after falling to the Dark Side as the reality of Reva’s Jedi Temple youngling history was exposed.
One fan said this was the most peak Star Wars he had ever experienced. Also sarcastically cursed Disney for making him cry, remembering his childhood days. While other fans didn’t want the Obi and Anakin’s scene together to end, he just wanted to get lost in it and live that moment again and again. After seeing Anakin’s appearance, fans just want more of him, demanding a special Spinoff for him. One fan was requesting Disney to also make a “What If” style episode for Anakin, where he didn’t become Darth Vader, promising that he’ll watch the “shit out of it”.

Fans witnessing Young Leia with Young Luke in Obi-Wan can’t help but wonder what might have happened if Anakin had been given the opportunity to play the father. It’s a little intriguing.

Hayden Christensen’s Star Wars run is now possibly more gratifying than the arc of his own character!

The influence of those films that shaped our upbringing never disappears, no matter how old we get or how intelligent we become.
