Hold your breaths because Dance of the Dragon is about to begin. Well, after the 10th episode, which brought us to a massive rollercoaster of emotions, it is hard to say which allies will fall under the Black category and which one will go for the Greens. Well, if you have not watched the last episode yet, I warn you that this article contains major spoilers.
Now that we are clear, let us understand how the Baratheon ally went down for the two parties. As Lucerys goes over to Storm’s End on the dragon’s back in order to win the favor of Lord Borros Baratheon, he finds out that Aemond is present here as well with Vhagar and a better offer. Aemond offers to marry one of the Baratheon ladies in return for their favor to The Crown.
Green Allies
Lucerys brings in Rhaenyra’s words reminding them of the Baratheon blood that flows through his veins through Princess Rhaenys and how his father kept an oath and knelt in front of Rhaenyra as the heir to the Iron Throne. Although, Lord Borros is not satisfied and sends him away.
We all know how that ended as Aemond was chasing Lucerys on Vhagar. The dragon ends up killing his nephew, which might just be the act of the notion that this war has started, and it begins with Aemond.
Now, the Greens have allies from Harrenhal, ruled by Larys Strong. The Baratheons, the Lannisters, and Hightower hold themselves. Although, who will support the Blacks and Queen Rhaenyra?
Their greatest allies in the war will prove to be the Velaryons from the sea, Tullys from Riverrun, and Lady Jeyne, who is Rhaenyra’s aunt from the Vale as well if and only if the Starks agree to join their cause from the North. Let us understand if the Starks, ruled by Lord Cragen Stark, will agree to Rhaenyra’s claim or not and call their banner to war.
Will The Starks Join The Blacks or the Greens?
The Starks will join the Blacks under Queen Rhaenyra’s claim to the Iron Throne in this upcoming civil war. In the books, it is written that Prince Jacaerys goes over to the North along with his dragon to win their support for his mother. And the last episode just showed us the same. Jace has left Dragon Stone in an attempt to win the Starks over.
Now, we know from Game of Thrones that the Starks are proud, loyal, and honorable. This means that they are going to keep the word that their fathers once swore to. Even Lord Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones kept the word to his sister Lyana and even if it hurt the feelings of Caitlyn, he never told a single soul that Jon Snow is actually Aegon Targaryen, son of his sister Lyana Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen and not his bastard son. Well, this means that when Jacaerys is seen flying to Winterfell, he will be welcomed and his claim supported.
Black Allies
As for the Knights of the Vale, which we have heard the most about in Game of Thrones and how strong they are, this will make an excellent ally to Rhaenyra’s claim. Her mother, Queen Aemma, was an Arryn from the Vale, and they will obviously support their own blood rather than the Greens’.
Lord Corlys Velaryon has also sworn fealty to Rhaenyra after Princess Rhaenys convinced him to. Rhaenys will also join the war on her dragon Meleys and patrol the Narrow Sea in order to make sure that King’s Landing is cut off from any supplies from the Essos. With Lord Corlys’ ships in command, they will be unbeatable from the sea.
