They return to the room to inquire about Holland Po, the nanny. She claims that they had never met. They visit the Baudelaires and advise them to speak with the contractor, Jesse Long. He was familiar with Holland and left the Baudelaires days before Holland vanished.
They are going to arrest him for murder because they are aware that he threatened Holland. He claims things got out of hand, and he didn’t plan to kill her. Grey discovers a hidden passageway at the Baudelaires estate, and the group enters to investigate.
It takes them into a tunnel and into a room with a picture of the lost emperor, who, when Grey takes a selfie next to it, exactly resembles him. Other relics are scattered across the area as well. All of it was purchased on the illicit market and is stolen art. The most important item is a ladder; Dim used one to exit the residence because it was a clear route free of security cameras.
In Juicy’s video, she and Dim are being attacked while driving their car. Dim was later discovered dead. Chen then goes undercover to attempt to find Dim after somebody sends him a threatening text. They quickly dispatch the man, but the LAPD and CIA are also present.
Dim and the gun dealer, Meyer Balik, became distant cousins. Bradford learned that the organization had been educating them for several months. It piqued Mayer Malik Balik’s curiosity. For decades, he had been searching for it in a Miquelet flintlock gun that the Baudelaires owned.
Thus, he scheduled a rendezvous by dialing his cousin Dim. When they checked the hidden room, the firearm was missing, so Dim must have taken it elsewhere. To reexamine the evidence, they returned to the car accident. It was revealed that Dim had cheated on Juicy.
His mistress was Lisa Miller, Juicy’s best friend. Dim is then seen leaving jail. Lisa attempted to push them off the road because she couldn’t tolerate not having Dim with her.
When it didn’t work, she went to see Dim and shot him before throwing his body in the trash. They attempted to apprehend Lisa, who saw them and had a weapon in the back of her van. She shot Nolan, but the bullet missed his bulletproof vest.
The team creates a new painting of the emperor after the vandals damaged the original, but this one features Grey as a dragon slayer. Grey is called into the bullpen. Lisa was sent to prison, but Juicy was left hanging after they ran out of options.
