We know how he behaves and to put him on the other side of Elijah was a dangerous move, but the showrunners know what they were doing. He and Nyla started working together and came to some discoveries that could lead to the clues for the Judge’s death.
The first one was the fact that Rivas was working as per their wishes of Monica. This ultimately meant that Rivas was under Elijah the whole time.
As soon as the duo got to Rivas in order to get something out of him, the higher power had already reached him, and he died of a mysterious heart attack on the same spot before any answers could be given away.
As for Monica, she might also start counting her days because Elijah does not seem to be the person who will take any risks when it comes to his name. Thus, to even think that she is untouchable and, above all, is wrong.
Wesley loved her terribly, but it got pretty awkward when the two met in this episode. We saw how Monica behaved the same, but Wesley felt so differently towards her. Thus, he was wondering whether or not it was the same person that he loved so much and was she like this, and he failed to see it the whole time.

Later in the episodes, we saw Celina and Nolan paired together as well. The duo is tasked to take down a sniper who is trying to kill the honest firefighters of the city. Also, Bailey was in the ambulance, which was getting shot, and well, this scene might need more task force than just Nolan and Celina.
Despite the hardcore action in this storyline, it did not catch as much attention from the fam because it was clouded by the other subsequent stories which were going on at the same time.
Things turned awfully emotional when a firefighter got shot in front of them. Also, Nolan’s head is not clear with the things around his mother. Everyone expects him to act a certain way toward her, but he knows the deep-rooted feelings of how she has treated him in the past. Obviously, everyone needs to cut him some slack and let him have his own sweet time to decide how he wants to react to the situation.
In the most recent episode titled The Con, we saw that Lopez has decided to risk everything that he has in order to help Elijah Stone in taking down a gang leader. This is done in collaboration with the help of the FBI in exchange for security. At the same time, Nolan and Bailey are trying to get to the bottom of the hole that his mother has left behind for them. The shady dealings are acting up and need his immediate attention.
