Starz’s comedy series, Blindspotting will start airing its second season this week. With an entertaining first season that managed to keep audiences just as attached to their screens as the movie did, the comedy-drama will now return with another part taking us further into the lives of Ashley Rose and everyone around her.
Inspired by the movie that goes by the same name, Blindspotting takes place after the events that happen in it, which include Miles and Collin reconciling and heading on to the next part of their lives. The movie was just able to provide a short glimpse of what kind of person Ashley (Miles’ wife) is, but the TV series takes things further and portrays the city of Oakland and its people through her eyes.
The show is produced by Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs, who were the main cast behind the movie. It was their idea to make a show based on the film with Ashley as the main focus of the plot. Although we see Casal in the role of Miles a few times in the series, Daveed has yet to have an appearance. Season 2 will feature more of the actor as the plot will involve Collin returning to meet up with Miles.
The cast of season 2 will include Jasmine Cephas Jones, Jaylen Barron, Candace Nicholas-Lippman, Benjamin Earl, and Atticus Wood. Rafael and Daveed will be representing their original characters. New cast members of season 2 will be LeVar Burton, Katlynn Simone, Tamera Tomakilli, and Tim Chantarangsu.
Blindspotting Season 1: Recap
The first season of Blindspotting starts with Ashley and Miles finally hoping to spend time together, but after Miles is caught up in shady activities, he is arrested and sent to jail. This leaves Ashley all alone, along with her son Sean. She takes up the job of parenting on her own and is told by Miles to go and live with his mom and step-sister.
Once she arrives at the place, she sees just how different her life is going to be at the new home. Through moments of chaotic realizations and hilarious events, Ashley grows both as a person and as a mom in Blindspotting.
Sean becomes out of control when he finds out his dad is nowhere to be seen, but with Janelle and Trish by her side, Ashley can easily navigate all the problems life throws at her. The season ends with the whole family visiting Miles in jail.
