Deborah Davis’ Comments on The Show
Deborah Davis has worked on the project with Emilia Schule, who is German. As for Marie Antoinette, she was the ruler of France at just 14 years of age and was born in Austria. It has been reported by the creators that the whole series will feature a feminist take on her character. With an all-female crew and writers, this will surely be something truly amazing to watch. The show aims to empower women through the examples set by Marie. She became the youngest female ruler of France right before she was about to turn 20 years old.
While in an interview, Davis talked about how history has framed Marie and her personality. She says that there are claims that when the rule was just a little over 14 years in age, she arrived in the court of France like a stunned rabbit, and everyone judged her for her originality. They were questioning her birth because she is an Austrian. Everyone assumed that Marie did not stand a chance in court and would be ruled out. Although, what they were not aware of was the fact that she comes from a line of women who do not take no for an answer.
