Sims 5 Release Speculation: What New Features Will It Bring?

Sims 5 Release Date Speculations
Sims 5 Release Date Speculations

Don’t worry; you’re not the only one who has recently had thoughts about The Sims 5. Although it hasn’t been formally announced by EA Maxis, the upcoming installment of the wildly popular life simulation genre is apparently in development. The creator has hinted that the “next generation” of the Sims may put more emphasis on social and online interactions. There have even been rumors that this new Sims game may be cloud-based and contain a multiplayer component.

Of course, The Sims 4 is still going strong. Things remain exciting thanks to Stuff Packs, expansions, mods, and even live concerts and festivals. Fans are understandably interested in what Maxis and EA might have in store for them, given that The Sims 4 main game has been out for seven years. The Sims 5 may be coming, but it’s still a ways off, given that EA hasn’t made any official announcements. But in the meantime, we’ve compiled the most recent game-related rumors and news below, which we’ll keep up to date.

Sims 5 Release Date Speculations

The Sims 5 is still only in the “conceptual phase” at this point, so the game isn’t very far along. Given everything, we probably shouldn’t anticipate The Sims 5 for a few more years, at least until 2023. Remember that previous versions of The Sims have often had a long time between them as well. The Sims 3 was launched in 2009, and The Sims 4 followed in 2014. This means that the time since the last brand-new mainstream Sims game has been the longest ever. However, it makes sense that The Sims 4 is still going strong, and EA isn’t done with it yet.

Sims 5 – Town Wedding pack

The Sims 4’s Cottage Living expansion pack was launched in July 2021. My Wedding Stories, one of the minor game packs, came in February 2022. It’s still possible that EA and Maxis will still release a few more feature packs for the game, but it does feel like there are fewer areas left in The Sims 4 to explore. Even after announcing The Sims 4 for a September 2014 release in May 2013, EA continued to release upgrades for The Sims 3 until October 2013. Therefore, even while EA is still working on The Sims 4, the continuing release of expansion packs doesn’t necessarily indicate that the company isn’t considering The Sims 5.

Sims 5 Gameplay

Since there aren’t any The Sims 5 trailers yet, we can only guess what the upcoming Sims will bring us. Whatever the final design, we can certainly anticipate that The Sims 5 will function similarly to previous versions. Which includes activities, such as dining and, of course, interacting with people as soon as they happen to walk by your home, helping you meet your daily demands and regulate your changing emotions.

Sims 5 – Characters

The Sims gameplay has remained largely constant over the course of its existence, with occasional new improvements and quality of life tweaks. It will be intriguing to see if The Sims 5 gives the game a new dimension. Perhaps instead of the overhead view of selecting and moving, we could perhaps take full, third-person control of your Sim. It’s possible that the game will feature more significant gameplay modifications than prior versions if it wishes to follow online multiplayer, as some sources have hinted.

Sims 5 Multiplayer Rumors

According to a patent EA filed in April 2020 and granted in October 2021, The Sims might use AI technology to transform images of real people into in-game sims. According to Sims Community, the patent outlines AI technology and explains how players will be able to input pictures of themselves or other characters to create accurate Sims.

Sims 5 Multiplayer

While the Sims Creator in the original Sims game allowed you to overlay a face image on a character model, the results frequently fell short of expectations. Although there aren’t any examples of this AI technology in use now, it might end up being a more effective technique to truly create your face in the game. We’ll have to wait to see if and how EA uses the technology as they hold the patent fully. It’s also unclear whether this will be included in The Sims 4, which will probably continue to receive updates for a while, or if work has progressed far enough for The Sims 5 to serve as the AI technology’s debut.

EA Is Still Improving The Sims 4

EA Maxis hasn’t specifically discussed its future intentions for The Sims 4 since the release of the Cottage Living addition, but the company recently noted that its roadmap “remains to be focused on developing content that is in the game.” It didn’t completely rule out the possibility of “fairies, werewolves, and zombies” appearing in later expansions.

Sadly, this doesn’t look good for the release of The Sims 5 anytime soon; we’ll be fortunate to get our eyes on it before 2023. It seems logical that EA Maxis is maintaining The Sims 4 in the meantime, as the game has been in development for more than three years. It’s been improving things to the base game for those who’ve invested their hard-earned cash on it, game packs, kits, and expansions.

Sims Sessions

EA held a Summer of Sims in May, June, and July of 2021, releasing updates, activities, and Cottage Life, a new addition for The Sims 4. Sims Sessions, an in-game music festival, was also a part of this summer’s activities; all you needed to participate was The Sims 4 to have fun. Even though the festival was a bit hit or miss, we can’t help but wonder if it’s a preview of future developments for The Sims brand.

The Sims experience would include elements of “social engagement and competitiveness” in the future, according to Andrew Wilson in 2020. More recently, EA’s Laura Miele stated that the company wants to “expand on the facilities for people to play with life…together.” The social connection aspect that EA is eager to emphasize was there in this collective event, with its professional artists and outside-of-game TikTok hashtag. Maybe these sessions will continue in The Sims 5.

What Fans Want To See In The Sims 5

However, in the absence of anything Sims 5-related actually taking place, we’re here to compile the most popular gameplay feature demands from the community for The Sims 5.

Option For Solo Gaming

We understand that EA is shifting its focus, and it is admirable that they are experimenting with new social features. However, a large portion of Sims players loves the game because it allows for solo play. When EA chooses the “multiplayer and social” path, they normally work to encourage online gaming. Certain features, like Autolog in Need for Speed games, certainly improve the experience, but many Sims fans won’t be in favor of making online multiplayer mandatory. We are expecting that EA would at least support solo players, so there won’t be any always-online obligations.

Transport Options

In The Sims 3, you have more options for getting around town than just walking; you can also ride a bike, get in a car and drive right out of your own garage, or just dial a cab. Heck, after school, your kids could ride their bikes to their friend’s houses, but they’d have to get back before curfew. The Sims 3 is fantastic for adding in those small authentic details because, after all, what house wouldn’t have a garage, and what millionaire house wouldn’t have a collection of supercars? The Sims 4 homes just don’t feel complete without them. Fortunately, you can add automobiles back into your game with the greatest Sims 4 mods, but still…

Open World Feature

The Sims 3’s ability to make it feel like your home is a part of a larger neighborhood that you may freely travel without encountering a loading screen is one of its best features. Simply by walking there, you can pop over to your neighbors’ houses and explore their garbage, borrow a cup of sugar, or just say hello. Alternatively, you can go shopping, look for unusual plants in the suburbs, or just meet up with a friend. It all fits together and has the feel of a real town.

Sims 5 – Neighborhood

The Sims 4 ignores all of that for some reason. Rather than being able to freely explore your Sims neighborhood, you must click on a menu to go somewhere else and wait while a loading screen loads before making any short trips. You have to wait for a loading screen before you can even leave your lot. Although you may teleport between different neighborhoods, the world still seems incredibly disjointed and moves slowly. The Sims 5 must combine both The Sims 4’s range of sceneries and The Sims 3’s open-world features.

We are expecting that EA will reintroduce the sense of involvement and belonging with the capabilities of next-generation platforms. There shouldn’t be any loading screens thanks to the fast SSDs in the PlayStation 5.

Building Options

Even while The Sims 4 includes a reasonable number of building possibilities, some were lacking. The absence of a color wheel in The Sims 3 was, in our opinion, the biggest. The Sims 5 might use improved construction options or at the very least, upgrades that are centered upon construction. Improved building options are usually appreciated since they let gamers create stunning works of art without being constrained by odd restrictions.

And speaking of that, we ought to demand better neighborhood development tools. Back then, in addition to being able to design your own home, you could also decide how the property would be laid out. In The Sims 2, choosing the terrain design was just the start; you could also include environmental features like trees. But The Sims 4 had strict limitations on everything. The environment was also locked, drastically limiting player possibilities, in addition to the predetermined lot sizes. Better neighborhood design capabilities for The Sims 5 would allow us to create communities that are completely unique to our preferences.

Better Graphics

This one is a guarantee because the Sims franchise has consistently added new visual features. But it has been a while since they witnessed a significant improvement in graphics quality. Take the graphics from the Battlefield Series as an example; you can tell how they get better with each game. Battlefield 3 to Battlefield 4 was a tremendous jump.

We’re not suggesting that Maxis alter its unique engine—which, btw, has no official name. We’re only saying that they can do so much better if they completely tried to recreate it using current graphics methods. Sure, they could just switch to a more powerful engine, but we believe that would damage the design’s iconic feel.

Additional NPC

Do you recall burglars? Even though The Sims 4 careers allow you to do so, many fans would still like to see more NPCs make a comeback in The Sims 5. Since Bonehilda made a comeback with the Paranormal pack, it has become a topic of discussion among Sims enthusiasts in particular.  There are many beloved Sims characters that have been absent for far too long, ranging from the police, robbers, and taxi drivers to more particular ones like Chip the Dancer, Social Bunny, and Anges Crumplebottom.

Better Package

Did you realize that The Sims 4 fans had to wait almost two years for the addition of pools? Of course, you do; we wanted our Sims to use the pool for swimming and, perhaps, to take down the ladder while they were doing so. The Sims 4 experienced the same delay in adding kids. We are hopeful that EA won’t launch the game without key components.

Maybe the Pets can be included right away as well. Speaking of dog shelter management games, To The Rescue is an excellent one. It’s possible to add them back in, but doing so would damage the overall product at launch. Updates and expansions should add to previously published content rather than simply patching in cut scenes.

More Interaction With The Newborns

There is a significant movement underway right now to give babies more independence. While that might seem like a political campaign in real life, it’s actually more about enabling The Sims 4 to free kids from their cribs. Baby interaction is now limited to the crib, and taking them elsewhere to feed them would require mods that would essentially ruin the game.

Fans want newborns to be more interactive, more like toddlers and other age groups, so they feel more like a part of the game than just a strange holding period before they become cheeky tots. In addition to the fact that you can now give toddlers a bath in the sink, there have been some speculations that it is now being developed at Maxis. Moreover, the Sims Alexa app’s leaked visuals included the image, which comes complete with a free baby.
