As a fan of both the anime and Marvel fandoms, I’m excited to compare and write about a topic that encompasses both worlds. Both communities have developed tremendously in the previous five to ten years. In the entertainment industry, both groups are worth billions of dollars. The range of characters in these two entertainment industries is one of the reasons they are so popular. Because there are so many characters, they may share a resemblance while being in a completely separate reality. Characters are frequently influenced by one another. So, in today’s topic, we’ll look at Marvel Villains who are similar to anime characters.
Villains or bad men are definitely one of the primary characters in a tale. In most fiction stories, our protagonists would be without motivation or a growth arc if they did not have them. Whether it is a villain in a Marvel movie or a villain in an anime character, they both have many similarities. Furthermore, whether being prominent characters or supporting characters, there are characters in the anime who are comparable to Marvel villains. There are several factors that influence another character. It might be anything from sharing the same ideology to having the same character designs or anything.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at the top ten marvel villains that are similar to anime characters; We will compare their traits, and we will see what makes them so similar to each other.

Thanos and Anti-Spiral
These two characters from separate cinematic realms are related because they share a mindset. Thanos from Marvel Universe and Anti-Spiral from Gurren Laggan both believe that if they want to rescue the planet, they must limit the population to a particular number. Thanos believes that overpopulation will result in numerous problems such as starvation, poverty, and a shortage of resources. Whereas Anti-Spiral thinks that an increase in the number of humans and aliens capable of harnessing spiral energy will result in the universe collapsing.
While Thanos used the Infinity Stones to erase the universe’s half-life, Anti-Spiral struck a bargain with Lordgenome to keep the Earth’s population under one million. When the human population grew too large, he went on the offensive to kill the whole human species.
Loki and Dio
It’s really uncanny how similar this marvel villain and this anime character are. Both are adopted into the family, Loki by Odin and Dio Joestar. Also, both have a dispute with their brothers. On top of that, both have a god complex. It is also funny and unbelievable that no matter how hard they try, they are not able to defeat the family they are adopted into. Furthermore, both of these characters did bad things out of jealousy over the big brother and could never succeed. Loki, the “God of Mischief” and Dio are the prime example of the topic Marvel Villains who are similar to anime characters.
Killmonger and Sasuke
Both are betrayed by their close family members resulting in the death of their family members and the whole clan. Killmonger and Sasuke share more than one similarity. The betrayal and the anger they have from the event that occurred. The anger then turns into a path to revenge on the people that cause the tragedy in their life. For Sasuke, it’s his brother and later the Konoha Village, whereas, for Killmonger, it’s his cousin and Wakanda.
One more similarity that these two characters share is how their goal at the end was to reign over the thing they got hurt by so they could change it. For Killmonger, it was to be the King of Wakanda, whereas for Sasuke, to be the Hokage. Although, the end result for the characters is different. One returned as a Hero while the other died honorably as a Villain.
Ultron and Cell
The similarity between these two villains is really simple, they both were created for a purpose, and both are androids. The cell is an android created by the red ribbon army with the sole purpose of killing Goku. Whereas Tony and Banner created Ultron to protect the earth. The android misunderstood things and came to a conclusion that humans are the ones who are hurting the earth.
And the best part is how similar these two villains came to an end. Ultron came to an end due to his own creation, “Vision”. He created Vision for his own purposes, but as Ultron misunderstood peace, Vision misunderstood Ultron’s own mindset and went the opposite of it. Whereas Cell wanted to have the time of his life by fighting Gohan. He made Gohan angrier to the point he could not take it. It’s fascinating how these two characters are from different universes yet share so many similarities.

Kaeciliius and Madara
This analogy may appear out of nowhere, yet these two personalities have one thing in common. Kaecilius, one of the Marvel villains, and Madara, one of the god-like anime characters, are similar in that they were both exploited by another person. Dormamu, an omnipotent entity, used Kaecilius, the villain from Doctor Strange’s first film, to his advantage in order to take over the world. In the Naruto franchise, Kaguya used Black Zetsu to trick Madara into summoning the ten tails beast. Both the characters were falsely led by a god-like being.
Mysterio and Team Rocket
Mysterio (Spider-Man; Far From Home’s Antagonist) and the iconic Team Rocket (Jessies, James, and Meowth) have two things in common: they are both con artists, and They aspired to be heroes. We observed how Mysterio staged several phony circumstances to make himself appear like a hero. Using drones and technology to create a fake adversary and then defeating it with the click of a button.
Whereas, Who doesn’t remember the infamous Team Rocket trio, who used petty methods to steal pokemon again and over again? On occasion, they would manufacture artificial events in order to look like a hero by solving the crisis; however, Team Rocket would eventually screw up their own situation, and the main characters would clean it up while acting as heroes.
Sandman and Crocodile
If you have seen the Spiderman 3 movie and One-piece up to Alabasta arc, then you would know the one major similarity between one of the villains of the marvel cinematic universe, the Sandman, and one of the anime characters from One piece, Crocodile. They both share the same have the same power of sand. Both of their bodies turn into sand, and with this power, they could fly away, and punches would be ineffective on them because it would be like punching sand. This is the only similarity these two share apart that they are both very different. Whereas one is only an anti-villain other is a major villain.
Billy Russo (Jigsaw) from Punisher and Reiner and Berthold from Attack On Titan
What if your closest pals turned out to be the ones to blame for your problems? This is the parallel between Ben Barnes’ character Billy Russo in Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix and Reiner and Berthold, the warriors in Attack on Titan. These personalities deceived and exploited close friends in order to attain their own objectives. We all remember how shocking it was when Reiner revealed that he was the armored titan and Berthold was the Colossal titan. A similar situation happens in Netflix’s Marvel’s The Punisher when Billy Russo is shown to be an enemy of Franke Castle, who had previously appeared to be his friend.
Magneto and Madara
Speaking about betrayal by best friends, Magneto and Madara also share this similarity. Furthermore, they were both on a journey to establish a new world. Both were mistreated by the rest of the world, and people were scared of them. In terms of power, Madara has a similar ability to Magneto in that he can manipulate magnetic fields thanks to his Rinnegan. Both characters’ best buddies were the same as well. Charles and Hashirama believed there was a way to live in harmony. Madara and Magneto, on the other hand, saw only the worst-case scenario and set out to construct a new world.
Yoshikage Kira and Helmut Zemo
There is only one similarity that these villains have, and that is the way they do their work in silence. Helmut Zemo was on the quest to take revenge on his family. He is a mastermind who does not have any superpowers yet almost tore the avenger apart.
Whereas Yoshikage Kira from Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable is a serial killer mastermind who did not want his peace to be disturbed. Although their motives were different, they do share similarities because of the killings they do in silence.
