The Challenge: USA Season 2 Episode 4 is a bit of a fast-paced episode to the kinds of episodes that this reality show has in store for us. Featuring a big daily challenge, a lot of bravado, smart-mouthing, and conspiracies, the fourth episode sets the stage for more on the alliances’ side, with Bananas switching sides, Dusty sucking up to him, and Chris and other girls trying to see who will become the top dog.
Now, this post contains a few spoilers, breaks down the elimination part, and also contains my opinion on the entirety of the season’s episode. I always say that I don’t want to ruin the fun for you, so firstly, watch the episode if you haven’t seen it, make your own opinion, and then come back, or read the entire piece and have my biases dictate your interpretation, that’s up to you, in any case, here’s the breakdown of what went down in this show.
The Challenge: USA Season 2 Episode 4 Recap
We have a double elimination today, and the episode was fast-paced, with lots of confrontation on the social part; Josh is a bit of a troublemaker, Dusty has some sort of sucking-up-to-infatuation deal with Bananas, and Amanda’s mouth is surely getting her in trouble.
Since we had a cliffhanger from Thursday, let’s break that apart, Bananas had the shot of switching teams, but he doesn’t want to because he has Dusty on his side, but then trades places with Cory and ends up painted blue.
The Challenge
The challenge, called “Sideswiped,” has four players hanging off the sides of a couple of huge trucks, and they must hop from one truck to another to put a tag on the other side. And yes, the trucks are moving; after all, it has to be exciting.
Amanda did the worst, and it’s evident that she’s going to be in trouble; all the while, the rest of the performance from people like Chris or Bananas is mediocre at best.

The Challenge: USA Season 2 Episode 4 Ending Explained
We’re down to the nitty-gritty of this after all that showcase of social abilities and physical strength. Male and Female players were chosen by Red. The Secret Garden ladies want Amanda and Wes to be their nominees. And then there’s Desi and Luis, who are wanted by Josh to stand their test in the Arena.
Chanelle has a few words with the boys, but Dusty gets in the way because he sure as hell doesn’t want to share any power quotas. Josh puts out a fit, and that is planting the seeds for people to plot against him. Desi becomes the nomination.
In the Arena, Tyler and Bananas got one vote, Chris got six, Amanda got 9, Cassidy, Wes, and Monte got two, and Tyler got three.
The secret vote, by now, I think you can figure it out, Amanda and Chris. Time to enter the Arena: Chris wins, and Amanda gets the boot after a pretty nice confrontation with Desi in a game called Evil Eye, where the opponents are at the center of the stage holding a disc, and they have to get the disc out of a preselected area before the other.

The Challenge: USA Season 2 Episode 4 Review
If you’ve seen The Challenge before, you know what kind of stuff you’re getting into, you’re mixing reality competition show veterans in challenges that require physical strength, and they blend in the aspects of elimination, forming alliances, and even love triangles.
Call it staged or not; it’s still fun to watch; at least I watch it when I’m doing the dishes, vacuuming, or doing something else to keep my ADHD brain busy with that boring task.
I found the Sideswiped daily challenge to be fun, and it showcases the kind of production value that MTV/CBS/Paramount are putting into this. In any case, the alliances are going to start building up, and likely, the producers will change a few contestants from one team to another after they realize their dominance or weaknesses.
