My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World! Episode 8 is set to release next week. ‘My Isekai Life’ is a Japanese light novel series written by Shinkoshoto and illustrated by Huuka Kazabana that follows the journey of gaining a second character class. Serialization of the novel began in October 2017 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The series has been released under SB Creative’s GA Novel label since May 2018, and a manga adaptation with art by Ponjea is serialized online through Square Enix’s Manga UP! An anime television series adaptation by Revoroot premiered in July 2022. The manga has been licensed by Square Enix in North America.
The plot of the anime follows as Yuji Sano works constantly, whether at home or work. When his home PC flashes a message about the summons, Yuji restarts the machine…only to discover that he has accepted it! Yuji now lives in a fantasy world, far from paperwork and computers, with only one goal in mind: waking up from what he believes is a dream and getting back to the mountains of work he left behind. But this other world has other plans for Yuji, who discovers he can befriend slimes with his Monster Tamer character class! His number of slimes helps him absorb so much magical knowledge that he becomes the greatest sage in the realm in a blink of an eye. How will Yuji utilize all that power now that he has become the greatest sage in the realm?

My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World! Episode 7 Review
This week, My Isekai Life delivers another solid episode. Although the premise is not overly complex, the creative delivery makes it compelling. Yuji is being pursued assassination by the assassins that were briefly glimpsed in the last episode. There are many fantastic comedy moments in this, such as Yuji behaving as if he doesn’t have any money and hearing the assassins’ running chat. He tries to throw them off by exaggerating his ability. The icing on the cake is that to avoid fighting, Proud Wolf can handle all of the heavy liftings because he plays up his tamer persona.
We get lots of normal Pokémon/monster battling goodies during the Proud Wolf segments, with Proud Wolf taking on charging bulls dramatically. In addition to terrific running commentary, Proud Wolf gives us a delightful reminiscence of how they originally met. This all culminates in Yuji stepping in to show his strength—provoking the assassins to laugh. Those ridiculous close-ups of the assassins’ expressions, in particular, are hilarious. Their faces are warped, and their eyes appear enormous and bulging because of the fisheye lens effect used. It was an effective visual gag after a slow burn that was most of the episode. Finally, Yuji extends more assistance to others. It’s a good thing he has other people’s interests in mind—at least their immediate safety. We could get to see the slime pals’ excellent and/or charming armor in the scene with the blacksmith. I’m picturing them with colorful hats and massive shoulder pads and hoping to see them again soon.
