Recent times have surely shown a drastic rise in the viewership and popularity of Turkish dramas as the stories and actors have appealed to audiences across the world. Another such masterpiece was released on 5th February 2023, Sunday – Erkeğe Güven Olmaz (EGO). This crime thriller aptly portrays the intricate meaning behind its English title- ‘Men cannot be Trusted,’ and what goes behind the scenes with deceptive men who mislead sensible and sensitive women by holding their feelings captive.
These women do not deserve the mistrust, devastation, and hurt that collapses over them because of the insidious intentions of the opposite gender. Erkeğe Güven Olmaz (EGO) deals with the revenge that women plan for the men who play with their emotions, toying with them like puppet strings to engender the same pain upon the men who betrayed them.
In this latest Turkish drama, we have Erhan, a young man who works at a big company, his fiancée – Elis, and Sibel, the boss of the company where Erhan works, and a woman who places her job and responsibilities before herself.

This nightmare that has come knocking threatens to disrupt their happy life together before it even begins and harms their psychological well-being, and Erhan’s boss Sibel makes an offer that can save them but also change their lives forever.
Erkeğe Güven Olmaz Drama Cast
The show has been well-casted, bringing back the iconic on-screen couple of Alperen Duymaz and Melisa Aslı Pamuk in the titular roles of Erkeğe Güven Olmaz. Their sizzling chemistry in the crime-thriller show Çarpışma won the hearts of the show’s fans, making them one of the most loved on-screen couples in the history of Turkish television.
Alperen Duymaz stars as Erhan in the show, the deceptive man who gets embroiled in the consequences of his fraud, with the entire life that he has built for himself threatened as a result. Duymaz is a popular Turkish actor with many successful works to his name, like- Acı Aşk, Bodrum Masalı, and Çukur, among many more.
Melisa Aslı Pamuk, the beautiful actress and also the winner of the ‘2011-Miss Türkey beauty pageant’ plays the female lead in Erkeğe Güven Olmaz, portraying the charming and dedicated boss of her own firm. Erhan is a man who has everything- a nice job and a fiancée, Elif, whom he is happily engaged to be wed soon, eager to begin a new phase of their lives together. When they are away together, news reaches them that slips the ground from beneath them. This shocking news delivers information relating to Erhan’s tragic treachery and the consequential debt imposed, which is too big for them. This unforeseen incident threatens to shake the feeble base of their lives and leave psychological scars that will be hard to heal and forget.
During this time, Erhan is approached by his boss Sibel with an out-of-the-blue proposal which is difficult for him to refuse.
Sibel is a strong, self-made woman who prioritizes her work before everything else. She is met with the unfortunate medical report, which states that she needs an urgent operation to remove cysts from her uterus and that this could potentially strip her from the chance ever to have her children. This devastation is something very difficult for her to swallow. The lives of the two people who could not have been more different are thus intermingled.
Later, Erhan and Sibel go to Antalya for three days for Sibel’s big launch, ‘Ice-Queen’, which becomes a huge hit soon after. It is unknown what ensued between them during that period, but the danger of being revealed soon stands. Sibel’s joy about her successful show is in peril when she realizes someone else knows the secrets behind her Antalya visit. Elif is prepared to exact revenge on Sibel, while Erhan and Sibel are getting closer despite their reservations.
Sibel’s brother, Tuncay, also enters the complicated equation, and it is difficult to predict the subsequent plot and how the deceptions shall continue!
