The comedy-drama created by Andy Bororwitz and Susan Borowitz returned with a bang on February 23, 2023, on the Peacock Network. The series is adapted from the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and a short fan film of the same name shot by Cooper. The series has a well-written plot with the right amount of humor in it.

Reprising in their roles are Jabari Banks playing the part of Will Smith, a teenager sent to live with his aunt and uncle, and Cassandra Freeman, playing the part of Vivian Banks, aunt of Will. Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey Thompson, Bankses house manager. Olly Sholotan plays the part of Carlton Banks, Viv and Phil’s middle child. Coco Jones as Hillary Banks, the eldest child of Phil and Viv, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, the youngest child of Viv and Phil, Simone L. Jones as Jazz, Will’s possible love interest, and Adrian Holmes as Philip Banks, Will’s uncle as the core cast of the series.

The plot of the series centers around a straight-A student from Philadelphia who has a high chance of winning a basketball scholarship for a college and how his life takes a turn after he is arrested for firing an unregistered gun to stop a fight. It follows Will after his release from prison to move into the gated community of Bel-Air with his aunt and uncle in their mansion. The series nose dives in series societal issues like racial tension, culture shock, and black excellence with a sense of humor in it.

It also shows part of high-school bullying. Will makes a sworn enemy the moment he enters Bel-Air with Carlton as he flirts and kisses his ex-girlfriend Lisa. On his first day, Carlton humiliates Will in front of the entire junior class. The first season of the series ended on a cliffhanger with the return of Will’s dad, and Will decided to leave Bel-Air forever after feeling betrayed by his family.

There is also a turning point in Will’s and Carlton’s relationship. They started as enemies but turned into friends. The other cliffhanger comes in the relationship between Lisa and Will when Will decides to confess his love for Lisa. She tells him to talk later, but the latter never comes. The second season picks up from the crossover in Will’s life with the entry of his father in his life and challenges everything Will has learned so far.

Bel-Air Season 2 Episode – “Let The Best Man Win”- Recap

The sixth episode of the series focuses on the importance of taking care of one’s children’s mental health. The key element of the episode was Phil hosting a family reunion and Will consideration to continue his nomination for the Founder’s Award. The episode begins with Uncle Philip preparing Aunt Viv for the family reunion by teaching her how to play the game of spades.

He requests Aunt Viv to take care of his mother as he is busy taking care of other things. The episode also witnesses tension between the two brothers, Julius and Philip, as they fight to be better than each other. Next, the audience witnessed Will informing Carlton that he is considering keeping his nomination for the Founder’s Award, and Carlton isn’t happy with this news. Philip and Viv have a conversation with Geoffery, who informs the couple that he is looking for his son.

The couple decides to help Geoffery in finding his son and hands him an envelope containing information about his son. Will confronts Geoffery about what happened to his son and, after the conversation, informs Geoffery that he will be a good dad. Viv is also hurt and angry with Philip as he hides the fact about Erica, his ex trying to contact him.

The episode introduces Kyle, a cousin of Carlton and Will, who seems to be under a lot of pressure from his father to win the football game. Viv also gets in an altercation with Phil’s mom when asked about the fish fry which was supposed to be served at the game. The episode ends with Carlton knowingly missing the final winning touchdown to prevent Kyle from being scolded by his dad. The family is seen dancing together at the end of the episode.

Bel-Air Episode 7- Preview- “Under Pressure”

The episode is going to witness Will and Carlton not being able to give their full attention to preparation for the Founders Award due to some external dilemmas. As the previous episode revealed to the audience that Philip is going to help Geoffery in finding his son, there are chances the 7th episode will also show parts of the further investigation about Geoffery’s son.

Chaos is also expected to ensue as Hilaray is in the middle of a love triangle with her ex being determined to win her back. The episode will also focus on how Carlton handles the academic pressure put on him.
