IO Interactive’s 007 First Light has officially surpassed 4 million copies sold worldwide, marking another major achievement for James Bond’s return to video games. The milestone comes less than three months after the action-adventure game launched on May 27, giving the franchise one of its strongest gaming comebacks in years.

IO Interactive announced the sales milestone on August 20, thanking players for supporting Bond’s return to gaming. The studio wrote,

“4 million copies sold since launch! Thank you for joining us on this journey and being part James Bond’s return to gaming.”

The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version still planned. IO Interactive

4 Million Sales Strengthen the Case for a Sequel

While neither IO Interactive nor Amazon MGM has officially announced 007 First Light 2, the game’s commercial success has made a sequel increasingly likely. Amazon Games executive Jeff Gattis previously clarified the company’s position after earlier comments created uncertainty about IO Interactive’s future involvement.

Speaking in an interview, Gattis said,

“No, IO’s been great. They’ve been great partners,”

before suggesting that the success of the game could naturally lead to another installment.

“Seems like a sequel should be made,”

Gattis added.

“As long as we feel there’s a desire for players to have the game, it’s safe to say it’s going to be made.”

The comments do not confirm that a sequel is in development, but they suggest that Amazon recognizes the commercial potential of continuing the series. Amazon MGM holds the rights to future James Bond video games, although it has said that it is still too early to discuss specific future projects. VGC

For now, IO Interactive is continuing to support 007 First Light with post-launch content, while its Nintendo Switch 2 release will expand the game’s audience further. With 4 million copies already sold and strong momentum behind the franchise, James Bond’s gaming future appears brighter than it has in a long time.
