NEXON has officially revealed that its upcoming anime-style game previously known as Project RX will launch under the title FAREIDOLIA. The game is being developed by IO division, the studio behind Blue Archive, and will receive its first public playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

The newly announced game takes place in Anima City, a world that closely resembles Earth but carries subtle differences. FAREIDOLIA combines an immersive story, character interactions, lifestyle content, and dynamic battles, all presented through high-quality 3D graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5. NEXON has also confirmed that the game is currently in development for PC and mobile platforms, although its release date has not yet been announced. NEXON Official

The title was revealed alongside new details about its world, central characters, and Tokyo Game Show plans. According to director Minseo Cha, the name reflects the game’s central idea of discovering something familiar within a new world while building relationships along the way.

FAREIDOLIA Takes Players to Anima City

In FAREIDOLIA, players become the director of the Anima City Restoration Center while also serving as the head of its office, Tasogare Hall. Their role involves working alongside girls known as Mates, each of whom possesses unique abilities, while helping solve various problems across the city.

The first revealed Mates include Minieh, an adventurous and dependable explorer, Ohana, a mysterious self-proclaimed genius who enjoys mischief, and Shami, a cat-eared girl whose constant bad luck and spending on protective charms leave her perpetually short of money. The mysterious Elevator Girl, who operates the elevator at Tasogare Hall, also plays a role in the game’s setting.

NEXON has described FAREIDOLIA as a game focused on the connections players form with these characters. Cha explained that the team wanted players to feel close to the Mates through shared interactions and everyday moments, an idea that will be reflected in the game’s Tokyo Game Show presentation. FAREIDOLIA Will Be Playable for the First Time at TGS 2026

FAREIDOLIA will be exhibited at the NEXON booth in Hall 7-C04 at Makuhari Messe during Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to September 21. The booth will recreate Tasogare Hall and allow attendees to experience the world of the game before its official release.

Visitors will be able to play the game in its first public hands-on demo and take part in a face-to-screen rock-paper-scissors mini-game against their favorite character. NEXON will also distribute event-exclusive rewards, including an A4 clear file for booth visitors, cooling towels and large pin buttons for certain demo and social-media mission participants, and original FAREIDOLIA stickers for official LINE account registrants.

With its official title now revealed and its first playable demo approaching, FAREIDOLIA is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched new anime-style games at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The title’s combination of everyday life, character relationships, supernatural abilities, and action also gives players a clearer idea of what to expect from the next major project from the studio behind Blue Archive.
