The series “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” by Dan Patterson is expected to be premiering this month with the 19th Season of the hit Stand-Up comedy show. With Aisha Tyler as the host, The show deals with unexpected improvements and challenges that are spontaneously decided by the audience.
First released in 1988, Whose Line is it Anyway? was dropped off in the year 2007 due to its decreasing ratings. The show’s creators decided to launch it with new additions in the year 2013. This time, the show did well and has been renewed each year.
The 19th Season was announced in May of 2022 and is expected to host a much more wide variety of comedians as guest stars. The show, as always, consists of the comedians Ryan Stiles, Coin Mochrie, and Wayne Brady as the show’s full-time comedians.
Whose Line Is It Anyway?: The Show’s Plot
The show starts with the host, Aisha Tyler, letting the audience and the comedians know the overall challenges that will be a part of the episode. This used to be done by Drew Carey in the 1988 version. Once the challenges have been said, the comedians are called either in a pair or all of them at once to play each challenge.
Based on their performance, the comedians will be given points, the highest in a single act being 1,000 points. Once all the challenges are done, the points are added up. The comedian with the highest points ends up winning the show for that day. Though there is no monetary reward that has been disclosed, it is estimated that the winner for most of the shows has been Wayne Brady.
The challenges are different for each day, and a few examples are Scenes from a hat, Weird newscasters, and Sound effects. These have been constant in many episodes due to the hilarious themes made by comedians.
The challenge Sound Effects involves asking a random contestant to come on over to the stage and provide sound effects for any scene the stand-up comedians, especially Colin and Ryan, may perform. The other challenge, Scenes from a hat, is the hardest challenge as the comedians will have to come up with a humorous scene based on whatever the audience has put in the hat. Another improvisational test is the Film dub, where the contestants will provide hilarious dubbing to otherwise normal movie scenes.
Since the show was Reintroduced in 2013, it has performed much better than the previous part, with well-known comedians such as Kat Graham(The Vampire Diaries), Jeff Davis, and Misha Collins (Supernatural) being a part of the show.
