Nintendo has released a free demo for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players the chance to experience the game’s opening chapter ahead of purchasing the full version.
Alongside the demo launch, the company has also rolled out version 1.0.2, introducing support for transferring save data from the demo to the retail release.
The demo is available to download now through the Nintendo eShop, allowing players to sample the platforming adventure without losing their progress if they decide to continue with the full game later.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book demo lets players experience the opening chapter
The newly released demo includes the first chapter of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, offering an introduction to its blend of platforming, exploration, and puzzle-solving gameplay.
Originally launched on May 21, the game follows Yoshi as he teams up with Mr. E, a living encyclopedia that loses its memories after crash-landing from the sky. Players journey through the pages of the magical book to recover missing knowledge, discover mysterious creatures, and restore its forgotten entries. Along the way, familiar faces such as Bowser Jr. also make appearances.
The biggest advantage of trying the demo is that progress doesn’t have to be restarted. Players who purchase the full game can continue from where they left off, making it easier to transition into the complete adventure.

Version 1.0.2 update focuses on demo compatibility
Nintendo and developer Good-Feel have also released version 1.0.2, with the update primarily designed to support the new demo.
According to the official patch notes, players can now transfer their demo save data into the full version, provided they launch an updated copy of the retail game without existing save data. In addition to this feature, the update also includes unspecified fixes aimed at improving the overall gameplay experience.
The simultaneous release of the demo and update makes this an ideal time for Nintendo Switch 2 owners to try Yoshi and the Mysterious Book before deciding whether to purchase the full game.
