Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, offering the most detailed look yet at the enhanced RPG before its July 30 launch. The video revisits the world of Alrest, where colossal Titans support entire civilizations and powerful living weapons known as Blades fight alongside their Drivers in a story centered on hope, survival, and conflict.
The trailer follows Rex and Pyra as they continue their journey toward the legendary paradise of Elysium while highlighting the game’s cast, combat system, and major Nintendo Switch 2 enhancements. It also previews several new additions that expand the original experience, giving returning players fresh content while introducing newcomers to one of the franchise’s most acclaimed adventures.
Nintendo details new content and Switch 2 enhancements
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition brings noticeable technical improvements, including 4K resolution in TV mode and Full HD resolution in handheld mode, with gameplay running at up to 60 frames per second. These upgrades aim to deliver smoother combat and sharper visuals across Alrest’s massive environments.
Beyond graphical improvements, Nintendo has added a new Rare Blade named MOMO, an all-new quest, and Merc Assault, a new action battle mode that lets players command their Blades directly during combat. Fans can also unlock new outfit designs for Pyra and Mythra, adding extra customization options to the adventure.
Players who already own Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the original Nintendo Switch can purchase an upgrade pack to access the Nintendo Switch 2 enhancements. The update also extends to Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country, included with the Expansion Pass, while owners of the standalone version will receive the resolution and frame rate improvements through a free update.
