Orc Incremental is now available on Steam, giving players a new take on the incremental and auto-battler genres. Developed by European indie collective Nice Ride and published by Playsaurus, the game puts players in control of a growing orc warband that must continuously evolve to overcome increasingly powerful enemies.
Released on September 8, 2026, Orc Incremental is priced at $7.99/€7.99, with a 15% launch discount. Rather than simply watching battles unfold, players are expected to actively shape their armies through unit selection, formations, card drafting, totems, spells, and long-term progression.
The game also uses a retro-inspired pixel-art presentation created entirely by hand. Nice Ride says its aesthetic draws inspiration from 1990s games while using a relatively high 960×540 resolution, resulting in what the team describes as a faux-retro visual style.
Orc Incremental Features Extensive Army Building and Permanent Progression
The core gameplay revolves around building an increasingly powerful orc army. Players draft units and totems with different roles, rarities, and synergies, then arrange their forces to create effective formations capable of breaking through progression walls.
Although combat is automatic, strategy remains important. Players can support their armies with active spells such as Blizzard and Fireball, while the composition and positioning of their units determine how effectively they perform against increasingly difficult encounters.
When a run reaches its limits, players can activate Dark Rebirth. This resets the current progression while providing permanent bonuses and additional unlocks, creating a cycle where each attempt can make the next army stronger.
The full 1.0 release significantly expands that system. Four new allied units have been added: Assassin, Troll, Warg Raider, and Juggernaut. Chieftains have also been reworked into battlefield units, with nine different bloodlines, signature abilities, and a Martyrdom passive that activates when a chieftain is sacrificed.

The Blight Tree has also been redesigned into a branching progression system containing 250 upgrade nodes. Players will additionally encounter new enemies including Cryomancers, Paladins, and Griffons, alongside three new legendary bosses with unique attacks.
Five new totems further expand the available card and army-building combinations. The 1.0 update also includes improvements to Trials, balance, progression, usability, and overall game polish.
Nice Ride’s Velasco, who handled art and programming, explained that creating the game’s visual identity was among development’s biggest challenges. The team chose to produce the entire game in high-resolution pixel art despite its faux-retro direction, which ultimately delayed development and required additional artistic support from Playsaurus.
Beyond its strategic systems, Orc Incremental supports offline progression, allowing players to return to accumulated resources. New units, challenges, chieftain options, and milestone bosses provide additional reasons to continue refining builds throughout the dark fantasy campaign.
Orc Incremental is Nice Ride’s debut game. The developer is a remote collective of three developers from different European countries focused on single-player games featuring 2D art. According to the team, all of the game’s artwork is handmade rather than generated using AI.
Playsaurus serves as the game’s publisher and is known for its work in the incremental and idle-games space, including Clicker Heroes, Mr.Mine, Tingus Goose, and Sixty Four.
