Here we have brought the Korean content that will be going for the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. The 75th annual Cannes Film Festival will be taking place from 17 May to 28 May 2022. Furthermore, it will be a tribute to the American actor Tom Cruise whose Top Gun: Maverick film will also premiere at the festival. Besides, three South Korean films are invited; two films for ‘In Competition’ (Palme d’Or) and one for ‘Non-competition’ (Midnight Screening).

Korean Content That Will Be Going For The 2022 Cannes Film Festival
Another historical moment for the South Korean film industry will be soon written down. This year, two movies are chosen to compete for Palme d’Or at the 2022 Canne Film Festival. One is Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Broker, while the other is Park Chan Wook’s Decision To Leave. Meanwhile, Lee Jung Jae’s Hunt is invited to the non-competitive Midnight Screening section. Hunt is an action movie that follows the tale of two ace NIS agents, Park Pyung Ho and Kim Jung Do. The story reveals how the duo faces a tremendous discovery while hunting down the person in charge of North Korean spies.
Broker (2022)
The film Broker has been selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. It is an upcoming South Korean film that expresses a special journey of unexpected encounters surrounding a baby box. Many may not know, but a baby box or a baby hatch is a place where people can bring infants. Usually, they’re newborns. People drop them off anonymously to be found and cared for by others. Sang Hyun is a broker who works with Dong Soo to fund new parents for babies left in the baby box. However, the duo gets involved with So Yong, who placed her baby in the baby box. However, now she has returned for her baby. Meanwhile, Detective Lee and Detective Soo Jin are chasing after Sang Hyun and Dong Soo. The movie is scheduled to be released in June 2022.
Not to mention, it will be another piece written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. The Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda has already won Jury Prize and Palme d’Or for Like Father, Like Son , and Shoplifters, respectively. Therefore, it is Hirokazu Kore-eda’s first Korean film as well as the eighth film invited to the Cannes Film Festival. Furthermore, Broker will be showing another outstanding performance of the superstars such as Song Kang Ho, Bae Doona, Lee Ji Eun (IU), Gang Dong Won, and Lee Joo Young. Decision To Leave (2022)
The second movie that will compete for the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival is Decision To Leave. Decision To Leave is a mystery tale of a detective and a mysterious widow. Detective Hae Joon falls for the widow Seo Rae after she becomes the prime suspect in his latest murder investigation. While investigating, Hae Joon discovers an underground fighting right consisting of large furry animals. Later, he connects the dot and concludes that it is linked to his murder investigation. Therefore, Detective Hae Joon dives into an underground world of ghosts and shape-shifting humans while investigating the unnatural death case that happened on a mountain. With Broker, Decision To Leave will also release in June 2022.
The film story is written by Park Chan Wook and Jeong Seo Kyeong. Park Chan Wook is known as one of the most popular and acclaimed filmmakers. His work includes some excellent films such as Thirst, The Handmaiden, The Vengeance Trilogy, The Little Drummer Girl, etc. Not to forget, the film stars Tang Wei, Park Hae Il, Lee Jung Hyun, Go Kyung Pyo, and Park Yong Woo.
