Japan is always ahead of its time in making spectacular fantasy dramas and movies. This winter holidays, Disney+ is back with another amazing fanatic series called Wonderhatch: Soratobu Ryu no Shima, also known as Dragons of Wonderhatch.
Directed by Hagiwara Kentaro, this supernatural fantasy series premiered on 20th December 2023. The series will have a total of 8 episodes with a duration of 60 minutes for each episode. Disney+ is scheduled to release a new series every Wednesday.
Get ready for a roller coaster ride to a new world where every unhuman thing is normal. One can literally witness dragons flying over the sky and having a battle on their own. Here, action and adventure are fully invested, and one just cannot feel bored at all.
The cast line of the drama best suits the characters, such as Nakajima Sena in the role of Nagi, Okudaira Daiken in the role of Tyme, Mackenyu in the role of Akuta, and many more versatile actors. The huge credit goes to the actors and the editorial team for making this series so appealing to fans.
Let’s talk a little about the plot of the drama. The story is set in two worlds: the original world where we humans live and a supernatural world where the dragons are the rulers. When these two worlds collapse, one world must consider vanishing for other’s sake.
Recap
In the previous episode of Wonderhatch, Nagi introduces herself. She loves fantasy, and whenever she closes her eyes, she gets transported to a wonderland where she can imagine dragons flying. On the other hand, we are introduced to another fantasy land called Upananta Island, where dragons are the rulers.
Jairo attacks Upananta Island and defeats everyone who gets in his way. He tries to finish this world, and thus, he uses his powers and cuts down the whole island into small pieces, leaving it destroyed. Then we came to the present world, where it was revealed the Upananta Island and the dragon story were all created by Nagi’s mother.
She was a Manga artist, and thus her popular series was Wonderhatch. However, she died before finishing the dragon story. Nagi tells his only friend how he also has dreams about the dragon world, just like her mother, and she is skeptical about it.
Meanwhile, on Upananta Island, Thaim, who was just a dropout as a dragon rider, feels left out and gets separated from Akhta to a strange place. Gulphin tries to keep him company, but suddenly, Thaim remembers a way to save the whole world from collapsing. He goes to Sailam for help.
Sailam agrees to help Thaim when he hangs over her the manga books, which he dropped from the sky. Sailam believes Akhta possibly has gone to the outer world from where these strange things drop. And to bring back Akhta, Thaim must go to the other world.
In the present human world, Akhta lives an underground life. He is an astrologer lord on the internet and saves people’s lives from thugs. Akhta uses violence to save the life of the boy, but he gets involved with lawyer Nijasaki to prove himself innocent.
While Akhta reveals himself to his lawyer, Nijasaki, from another world, Upananta Island, Nagi is shocked to see the boy and the dragon she would have dreams about are actually in her room. Thaim and Gulphin are in the human world, and so is Akhta. Can they be reunited again?
