After refusing at first to get involved in such dangerous activities, Jang eventually agrees to go through with the plan because well he needs the money. In the upcoming chapters, we will witness Jang playing Hong-Gil Dong or Robin hood as he tries to steal gold and silver from the wagons of the merchant union. Will his quest be successful? Wild West Murim Chapter 26: Recap
In the previous chapters, we saw Jang visit Cheongsucheon after he harnessed the power of the elixir he received from the mountain spirit. Due to the immense strain, his body suffered during the process, Jang decides to stay the night at a cheap hotel and relax. Despite the hotel being cheap, it still has decent services like food and comfort. The boy from before returns to ask Jang about his well-being.
The waitress approaches Jang and asks the boy to take some rest, and so he leaves. Jang commends her for raising her kid this well, but she says that he’s not her child. The Boy is the son of her friend, and because her friend and her friend’s husband had died, she has been taking care of that boy. Jang insists on knowing how it all happened but refuses to tell a stranger.
The Next day, Jang finally approached the gambling table to try his luck. Everyone considers him a newbie after looking at his playing style, and they believe that they’ll win easily. They start to discuss an old man who recently sold his land to a big organization after being threatened for a long time. One of the people starts to talk about Mr. and Mrs. Ho’s death being a murder, but they are stopped as Jang would hear them.
Suddenly someone comes rushing in shouting Jang’s name, and it’s none other than Yang Geong. Jang is annoyed at him barging in like this, but Yang is very pleased to see him. They both go outside to talk. Yang says that he has been waiting for Jang to return to this place as he was certain there are not many good places around. Jang asks if there’s a bounty on his head, but Yang says that he just wants someone trustworthy.
Yang explains that he has a big job for Jang, and three other people are also involved in this. Jang asks why he needs him if he already has 3 people, and Yang says that he knows Jang’s skills as a Swordsman. Jang insists that he’ll first listen to all the details of the mission before accepting the offer.
Yang explains the job to him. According to his sources, a wagon full of gold and silver will be transported soon and the wagon will be headed straight for the merchant union. The twist is that the merchant union is evil and would only use these treasures for their own purpose and so destroying the wagon would not only stop them but also give a lot of money to Yang and everyone.
After hearing about the merchant union and their evil deeds, Jang decides not to take part in the mission but Yang insists on it and tells him that it will be a good way to make some quick money and also help the people of this land. Jang eventually agrees to be Hong-Gil Dong with him.
