Harry Potter and his two best friends (Hermione and Ronald) have always been in trouble, and in the third part, they get worried about Sirius Black. Sirius appeared for the first time in the third part of Harry Potter: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. However, his name appeared in the first part: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Sirius Black was a handsome and cool wizard who had been through injustice. Hagrid, who used to take Harry on a motorbike ride, had borrowed the flying motorbike from Sirius.
Sirius grew up in a family obsessed with pure blood. But he was different. He finally fell into a trap and got imprisoned. Before going to prison, other wizards considered him to be as powerful as Voldemort.
Sirius Black was in prison for over 13 years and did not get loved enough by his parents in his childhood. However, he got enough love from his Gryffindor friends: Peter Pettigrew, James Potter, and Remus Lupin.

Why Was Sirius Black In Azkaban?
Remus was a werewolf. However, he got supported by the other two famous personalities (Sirius and James) in the university. Sirius and James were handsome, mischievous, and skilled. The four marauders (Remus, Peter, James, and Sirius) went against Voldemort by joining the Order Of The Phoenix.
Sibyl Trelawney predicted that Jame’s son would destroy Voldemort and his reign. So, Voldemort started searching for the Potter family to kill their son. James trusted Sirius the most and went to him to ask for protection. Sirius was also considered the godfather of the son of James and Lily Evans (the son is Harry Potter).
Sirius had no issues protecting the Potter family. But he knew Voldemort would come to him first, searching for the Potter family. Everyone knew how trustworthy Sirius was for that family. So, they chose Peter Pettigrew as the secret keeper and the savior instead of Sirius. It was the biggest mistake that made them all suffer.
Peter knew he was in danger of protecting the Potter family. So, instead of fighting against Voldemort, he joined hands with him and let him kill the family. In fear of getting exposed, he framed Sirius as the murderer and went underground to fake his own death.
Angry Sirius stood before Peter, but Peter was prepared. Peter cast an explosive spell killing 12 Muggles. He immediately fled the scene by turning into a rat. Sirius got accused of those murders committed by Peter. It is how Sirius got imprisoned for killing 12 Muggles, Peter, James, and Lily, without any trial.
Sirius’s Escape From Azkaban
Sirius got depressed by his friends’ death and betrayal by Peter. He did not know where Peter was. None would trust him, even if Sirius got out of prison. So, he had no reason to escape Azkaban. One day, he came across a newspaper where he saw Peter getting changed into a rat. Peter was living as Ron Weasley’s pet.
It made Sirius worry for Harry as Peter would help Voldemort for killing Harry too. So, Sirius turned into a dog and slipped down the cell when the Dementors opened the door to serve him food. Thus, he escaped the prison and swam across the north sea as a dog.
Sirius had to live secretly, knowing his life would not get smoother again. He only used to meet his best friend Remus and the godson Harry. He was the first prisoner to escape Azkaban. After knowing that Sirius had escaped, the Witch Watchers made their forces follow and catch him. The remaining people stayed alert as they considered Sirius dangerous.
Sirius’ cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange, cast a spell on him, and he floated through the archway. Finally, he vanished behind the veil. Harry waited for Sirius to come again somehow. He even tried to go through the veil behind Sirius, but Remus stopped him. Finally, Harry accepted that his godfather was no more when Remus informed him about Sirius’ death.
The wizarding world considered Sirius a cruel murderer. But Remus, Harry, and those from the Order Of The Phoenix knew he was innocent. They protected him till his last day. Sirius stayed loyal to them, reciprocating their behavior.
