Louis Carl Dobbs is a 77-year-old American presenter, author, and political commentator. He has hosted Lou Dobbs Tonight and The Great America Show. Talking about his relationship with Fox, he doubled the ratings of the shows and was the highest-rated anchor on Fox.
Fox Business Network aired Dobb’s show at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM (EST). Dobbs was seen in the first week of February 2021 for the last time. He got replaced by Jackie DeAngelis and David Asman, who would host the show rotationally. Similarly, the name of the show got changed to ‘Fox Business Tonight.’
Dobbs was not even present for the finale show on Friday. He was vacationing, according to the new host, David Asman. The cancellation of such a leading show was unexpected.
Dobbs’ contract did not end by the time he got fired. But, he will not appear on the media’s shows again. It also includes Fox News Channel. His controversial views took him out of CNN in 2009. He made an award-winning coverage of the ‘1987 Stock Market Crash.’
Dobbs made a memorable entry on Fox News by challenging the citizenship of the former president, Obama.

Potential Reasons For Firing Lou Dobbs From Fox
Several hints provide the reasons for firing Dobbs from Fox. Still, we say ‘The Potential Reasons…’ because Fox did not confess the real reason behind it. Officially, Fox said that they made adjustments to the show after the elections. But, it is indigestible.
Fox News and the three hosts Jeanine Pirro, Maria Bartiromo, and Dobbs got sued by Smartmatic with a defamation suit of $2.7 billion. The voting software company said that the hosts hit its image and business hard through lies and wrong information. It was said that the company’s technology got used to commit fraud in the case of voting. Dobbs got fired after 24 hours.
The former Chief Executive of Fox News, Roger Ailes, hired Dobbs in 2011. It was evident that he had been an open supporter of Trump’s policies related to immigration and economics. Later, he also claimed that the elections favored Biden and that the Republican Party did not go according to the words of Mr. Trump.
Dobb’s inclination towards the reign of Trump kept the show ratings high. The other two targets, Jeanine Pirro and Maria Bartiromo, did not get fired. Dobbs guided Sidney Powell and Rudolph Giuliani to create controversies related to the elections that had no evidence. Finally, he got them sued by Smartmatic too.
Dobbs started performing poorly with the advertisers, and it is another reason for Dobb’s firing. Meanwhile, Fox News claimed to be sufficient to defend itself against the baseless lawsuit. The network could face more lawsuits if Dobbs continued with it.
Controversies are not new for Dobbs. He has played a major role in several controversies such as Birtherism, war with China, refusal to accept scientific studies related to climate change, anti-immigration, conspiracy theories against George Soros, and other views.
After Lou Dobbs Got Fired
On the one hand, Fox News Media said that they often make changes in the program after the elections. On the other hand, some people involved in the discussions said that Dobb’s show was under the sight of the channel even before the lawsuit.
However, Fox Media had to run fact-checks challenging their own anchor’s words after the controversy. Fox Business and News replaced Dobbs with several high-profile anchors, such as Larry Kudlow and Martha MacCallum. Initially, Fox News faced a loss of loyal viewers, and it fell behind CNN and MSNBC. However, the channel got successful in attracting casual viewers.
Mr. Trump Watched Dobb’s program, and his joint resources informed him about the benefits for the West Wing if he appeared on the show. He even included Dobbs in the policy discussions with the staff. So, the appearance support of Dobbs and Mr. Trump for each other landed the former in trouble.
After realizing that Dobbs had been fired, Mr. Trump called him great, according to the statement given to the New York Times. He also added that Dobbs loved America the most. Mr. Trump included the loyal fans waiting for Dobbs’ next move. However, Dobbs did not seem to be loyal while blaming Mr. Trump in the show.
