Yugo Asuma was a member of the NIJISANJI Project, also known as NIJISANJI. It is a group of mainly 2D virtual YouTubers, and they are also known as “Virtual Livers.” Yugo, like the others in the group, is a Vtuber or online entertainer whose real-world form is impersonated by a digital avatar. Their digital avatar is the ones that connect and interact with their audience. This is done with the help of motion capture and computer graphics.
The avatars are usually anime characters in 2D or 3D, and the human content creator is the voice actor for the character. These characters either come with backstories that are rather complex or even mystical in nature, or they are simply people or artists who can play video games, sing or dance. The virtual YouTuber trend started in 2010 and gained popularity in the 2020s. The Vtuber groups mainly consist of Japanese artists, but they have expanded to Korea, China, and even India.
The NIJISANJI group is managed by ANYCOLOR Inc., and the group’s founder was Riku Tazumi. NIJISANJI started out in February 2018 as a Vtuber agency that was one of the first of its kind. Yugo Asuma made his debut with Fulgur Ovid, Alban Knox, Uki Violeta, and Sonny Brisko. He is associated with the fifth generation of the NIJISANJI, namely, Noctyx. Yugo Asuma joined NIJISANJI on February 8th, 2022, and his style has mainly been gaming and music. Other social media platforms he is involved in include Marshmallow and Reddit, and he has posted over 110 videos to date.
So Why Was Yugo Graduated From The Team?
“Graduation” in this particular industry means that a Vtuber leaves or departs for some reason. ANYCOLOR said on December 14th, 2022, that they have graduated Vtuber Yugo Asuma from NIJISANJI and that they will stop all activities of the Vtuber, including streaming, and delete all videos and tweets related to the virtual star. this particular decision has shocked Yugo’s fan base, and many want to know why the Vtuber has been made to leave.
According to ANYCOLOR, who graduated from Yugo Asuma, Yugo has been involved in activities and actions that the company found “unacceptable.” ANYCOLOR also mentioned that Noctyx would continue without Yugo Asuma, consisting of only the rest of the members Yugo debuted with. The shocking decision was taken after much deliberation by ANYCOLOR and NIJISANJI.
Yugo Asuma’s fellow Vtubers also tweeted about the incident but failed to provide any inside details and thanked the fans for their patience. ANYCOLOR did not mention clearly, the exact reasons for Yugo’s graduation and remained pretty vague about the issue. However, it can be deduced that the removal was a forcible one. Asuma did address his fans in the hours that followed his removal. He apologized to his fans in a tweet and thanked them for their continued support and existence, and that it meant a lot to him.
Yugo Asuma Controversies
- The earthquake joke – An earthquake occurred in Japan on March 16th, 2022, where many people died. Yugo Asuma joked about it as if it was a light-hearted matter even though the earthquake had affected him too, and He later apologized to his fans.
- Yugo Asuma’s rude behavior – This happened during Amamya Kokoro’s birthday stream in 2022. Yugo Asuma told Petra, another Vtuber, to shut up and used foul language. Even though he said it under his breath, there was a mic that amplified his voice, and the comment was broadcasted during the stream. This was one of the many times he was rude to Petra.
- Discord leak – It is said that this was the main reason behind Yugo Asuma’s graduation, but it has still not yet been confirmed. According to NIJISANJI, Yugo did not follow the schedule and often streamed outside of it. He was also not always prepared for the live streams and once accidentally leaked a conversation between his manager and himself.
Yugo Asuma’s YouTube channel has around 400,000 subscribers. The Virtual star has been on a hiatus and had not streamed for many weeks, after which the sudden announcement of his unexpected graduation from the team came.
