June Brown played Dot Cotton for 2884 episodes in EastEnders. With her sudden exit, in February 2020, people wondered about the reason. Some even took it to their social media handles raising questions. Witnessing those posts, June thought of opening up about it. That was in February 2020.
Well, June Brown was offered a retainer. But, the actress had turned down the chance. On this note, she said, “I don’t want a retainer for EastEnders, I’ve left. I’ve left for good.”
In 2012, June took a break from EastEnders for six months. Why? Because of working on her autobiography. She wanted to focus on that. But, what about her final exit at the age of 93?
The major reason behind June Brown leaving EastEnders was she was unsatisfied with her character. It was not Dot Cotton but the part of her play. When making a comeback, June claimed to have thought of doing a good story. But, she realized that her part was very small.
