It’s been a couple of months since the D.O. left the Kpop group – EXO’s agency. With the announcement, fans became very upset as he made his departure after a decade. Reason Behind D.O. Leaving EXO Suddenly After 12 Long Years
The major reason behind D.O. leaving EXO’s agency- SM Entertainment, was his willingness to form his company along with a long-time friend, more precisely, his managing director. Also, his contract expired in November, and the idol chose not to renew it. The news came out on 18 October 2023. One must note that D.O. will continue his solo activities.
The official announcement also shared that D.O. will “proceed with his acting and individual activities through the newly established agency founded by his and SM’s former manager.” He will also continue his work with EXO.
D.O. is the second EXO member to leave SM Entertainment, following Lay Zhang. The latter parted ways in April 2022.
At the beginning of this year, several rumors sparked Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen, stating their willingness to terminate their respective contracts with the agency. Why? The reason was alleged to be cited as “mistreatment and unfair contract terms.” But SM Entertainment refused the claims. Later, it turned out to be a “misunderstanding.”
Overall, D.O. ended things with the agency on a better note. Many fans wondered if they felt any mistreatment or anything. But it was not like that in real.
One fan took it to social media, writing a post that said, “I don’t like this narrative that Kyungsoo prefers being an actor over being an idol when he has always insisted that he enjoys doing both and that he wants to do both for as long as he could.” Overall, many people seemed to be happy about his departure from the agency, knowing that he would continue.
