Tsybulnik was reported with Reed the day of his arrest and has spoken up against the allegations regarding the police account of Reed’s actions that night. She even claimed that the police authorities have constantly changed their story. She further suggested that Reed might have been too drunk to resist them. Tsybulnik and Reed reportedly met back in 2016 and soon started a relationship.
Reed visited with his girlfriend Lina Tsybulnik back in 2019 when he was arrested as he was accused of police assault. The Russian police authorities claimed that Reed grabbed the arm of an officer while in transit to the police station, which led to the vehicle swerving into another lane. The US Marine’s parents and lawyers have disputed this claim. The USA President Joe Biden has spoken with the family on the phone and further revealed that he brought up Reed and the case of another former Marine, Paul Whelan, jailed in Russia during a summit with Putin.
