As a bookworm, I have read this novel, and it is a perfect combination of Love, sacrifice, and happiness. This novel was best-selling, and its sales are still increasing. The Fault in Our Stars writer is John Green & the published in January 2012. That’s why this novel gets converted into a film.
Before we start talking about The Fault in Our Stars movie, let’s know about the novel first. This novel is the sixth novel of John Green which is available in both Hardcopy and soft copy. After working as a clerk at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the writer received inspiration. He started working there almost five months after his graduation. Soon Fox 2000 announced to conversation John Green’s novel into a film. The film’s preparation started in 2012 itself. The Fault in Our Stars Plot:
The story revolves around Hazel Grace, a teenage girl who is fighting 4th stage thyroid cancer. Due to her severe health conditions, her mental health also suffers because of Depression. She carries an oxygen tank where ever she goes. One day, she is attending a cancer support group at Literal Heart of Jesus church. Where she met Augustus Water, a teenage boy who lost his right leg due to bone cancer.
After the meeting is over, Hazel and Gus talk outside while Gus’s best friend Isaac is making out with his girlfriend, Monica. Isaac has a tumor in his eye, which makes him fearful of losing his eyesight. Gus invites Hazel to his house for a movie. On their second meeting, Gus asks her about her real story aside from her cancer tragedy they both exchange their favorite books and numbers. A few days later, Gus texts Hazel after finishing her giver book, An Imperial Affliction.
Later, Gus invites Hazel over as he believes Isaac is having a Psychotic Episode. After watching Isaac’s reaction to his break up with Monica. She tells Gus that his reaction is valid after a breakup. Gus allows Isaac to smash his baseball trophies to let his anger out meanwhile, Gus asks questions about the book’s ending. Hazel confesses to writing several emails to the writer, Peter Van Houten, to ask about the ending. But he doesn’t seem to respond.
Curiously, Gus finds Peter Van Houten’s assistant’s email id and gives it to Hazel. She gets a response from the assistant as he invites them over to Amsterdam. Later that night, Hazel suffers fluid fills in her lungs and gets hospitalized in the middle of the night. Gus reaches the hospital as soon as possible but is unable to meet her in ICU. After getting discharged, Hazel starts maintaining distance from Gus. Doctors have declared Hazel unfit for travel. She calls Gus to express her grief. Although, the situation changes when she is finally on a flight to meet her favorite writer.
They meet Van Houten only to realize he is a rude middle-aged Alcoholic who insults everyone. He passes comments to Hazel for risking her health conditions own to find answers to a fantasy. Both of them leave, and the assistant later arranges their visit to Anne Frank House as an apology. In the end, both of them end up having a great time & they make love later at night. Hazel is heartbroken the next day after hearing that Gus’s cancer is back.
After returning to their Home, Gus’s health starts worsening. He invites Isaac and Hazel to his pre-funeral to hear their Eulogies. Hazel expresses her gratitude and love towards her. After eight days, They both are attending the actual funeral of Gus. He died after battling cancer for so long. At the funeral, Peter Van Houten gives a letter to Hazel. He tells her about his deceased daughter on whom the novel is written. The letter contained Gus’s Eulogy for Hazel. In which he expressed his love for her.

The Fault in Our Stars Filming Location is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although, some scenes of the film are shot in Amsterdam because of the requirement. Several scenes have got shot throughout the area. These places are Hazel Grace’s house in Oakmont, Pittsburgh, Monica’s house in Summit Drive, Emergency Room in Allegheny General Hospital, etc. Apart from locations in Pittsburgh, a few scenes got shot in Amsterdam also. These scenes were The Anne Frank House in Prinsengracht 263-265, Peter Van House in Lawrenceville, Hotel in American Hotel, etc.
