The early life of Tom includes his father who was a retired United States Air Force Navigator and his mother who used to be a teacher during her thriving professional life. he was brought up in Indiana and hence went to Mississippi State University. He was relocated to Hawaii, California, and a few more places due to his father’s job.
After finishing University in 1987 the young report joined the broadcast news station. He worked in the news industry from the year of 1988. He was very well-versed in languages including English and Spanish. He soon joined the team of FOX13 and worked for the longest time possible.
Dees has a family consisting of his wife and 3 children. Although Tom is a public figure his family likes to stay under the shadows rather than come out in public. But, even so, many times a beautiful bond was noticed over Dees’ social media, capturing conversations between the family members.

The whole went silent and in a state of mourning when the voice of the FOX13 news report went silent, forever. On the date 9th of February 2023, the one-man band of the team of FOX13 died at his Desoto County home. From the sources, it was mentioned that the anchor was being diagnosed with a lung disease named IPF aka Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a lung disease that can lead to breathing difficulties.
Due to the disease, he was hospitalized but he could not take it more and unfortunately left the world at the age of 57. It is said that even Tom’s father also had the same disease that eventually led to his death as well. His father died in April one year before his death. It was in news as well that just a day after the untimely event, it would be Tom’s birthday which he was supposed to celebrate with his family and friends.
The death of a legendary reporter or anchor of FOX13 reported that Tom was a Multimedia Journalist for the past few years for their company. He was known as a one-man army who was called out as the honest and very patient man in journalism history.
FOX13 further added that the man was capable of turning a couple of news articles in a single day. He can find real people so easily because he was one of them. That’s how Tom’s previous workstation described him.
