Suzumura had been on leave since February while recovering from adjustment disorder. His return marks the end of his recovery period and comes after he stepped away from work to focus on his health. It is also the third time in a little over two years that the acclaimed voice actor has taken a break for health-related reasons.

Kenichi Suzumura’s Hiatus Began in February 2026

On February 12, 2026, Kenichi Suzumura’s talent agency, Intention, announced that the veteran voice actor would take a break from work after being diagnosed with adjustment disorder. The agency said Suzumura had been experiencing health issues and, following medical advice, would focus on rest and recovery. It also stated that an update would be shared once he was ready to return.

Adjustment disorder is a mental health condition that can develop after a person experiences significant stress or a major life change. It affects how someone copes with difficult situations, but Intention did not disclose the specific cause of Suzumura’s diagnosis. The agency only confirmed that the decision to pause his professional activities was based on a doctor’s recommendation.

This was not Suzumura’s first health-related break. He also took a hiatus in May 2024 before returning to work about two months later. His latest leave marked another period of recovery, highlighting the importance of prioritizing his health.

However, in February 2026, Suzumura took another break after being diagnosed with adjustment disorder. After several months of rest and recovery, Intention confirmed on June 29, 2026, that he would gradually return to work. The agency also emphasized that Suzumura’s health will remain its top priority as he resumes his professional activities.
