The globally successful anime film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle is returning to theatres in India on March 6, 2026, giving fans another chance to experience the record-breaking anime spectacle on the big screen.

The re-release was announced by Crunchyroll, which is distributing the film in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. This time, the movie will also be available in SCREENX, a premium cinema format that offers an immersive 270-degree panoramic viewing experience.

The film will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles, allowing fans to watch the original version exactly as intended.

One of the biggest highlights of the film’s return is the SCREENX release, the world’s first multi-projection cinema technology. SCREENX expands the movie beyond the main screen by projecting visuals onto the side walls of the theater, creating a 270-degree field of view.

For an action-heavy anime like Infinity Castle, known for its dramatic battles and dynamic animation, this format promises a significantly more immersive theatrical experience.

Infinity Castle serves as the first installment of a three-part cinematic trilogy that adapts the final arc of the hugely popular Demon Slayer story.

The franchise is based on the manga created by Koyoharu Gotoge, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between 2016 and 2020. The manga concluded with 23 volumes and has sold over 200 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.

The anime adaptation, produced by ufotable and directed by Haruo Sotozaki, has played a major role in turning Demon Slayer into a global phenomenon.

Record-Breaking Box Office Success

When Infinity Castle originally premiered on September 12, 2025, it quickly became one of the biggest films of the year.

The movie ranked as the 7th highest-grossing film worldwide in 2025 and shattered several records for anime releases.

  • Highest-grossing anime film of all time globally
  • Surpassed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as the highest-grossing international film ever released in North America
  • Became the highest-grossing anime film ever released in India

The film also received recognition during awards season, including a Best Animated Feature nomination at the Golden Globe Awards, a nomination from the Producers Guild of America, and placement on the longlist for the BAFTA Awards in the Best Animated Film category.

Story

The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young swordsman who joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his sister Nezuko is transformed into a demon.

Alongside his companions Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, Tanjiro battles powerful demons while training under the organization’s elite warriors known as the Hashira.

As the Demon Slayer Corps prepares for a decisive confrontation with the powerful demon leader Muzan Kibutsuji, the Hashira begin an intense training program to strengthen their abilities.

However, the situation takes a dramatic turn when Muzan suddenly attacks the Ubuyashiki Mansion. During the clash, Tanjiro and the Hashira are pulled into a mysterious realm, the demons’ stronghold known as the Infinity Castle.

Inside this ever-shifting fortress, the stage is set for the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan’s forces.

The Demon Slayer anime series is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
