Vengeance Filming Locations
Vengeance was filmed in New Mexico, and the filming locations include a few small towns situated in the Lone Star State. Filming locations also included some vast deserts of Albuquerque along with a smaller city named Artesia, which are both situated in New Mexico.
These places were chosen as they have a similar arid environment and are not too far away from their neighboring state. Director B.J Novak chose these cities because they are extremely friendly to filmmakers.
However, Novak did reveal that filming in New Mexico did come with its fair share of challenges, as they lost a whole scene while adding further that when the movie zipped along, there was a huge flash blizzard, and the cast and crew tried it’s best to make the best of it.
Novak also stated how he completely immersed himself in the community while he was living in Albuquerque, and he admittedly enjoyed the landscape while saying how El Cotorro became his favorite spot.

Director B J Novak Opens Up About The Locations
As Novak stated how he feels like Texas is such a mythical place, and he thought that it would be great for his character to explore the truth in the mythology, especially during the time in America when everyone was inventing their narratives about themselves and other things. The director explained how the contrast between the myth and the reality is more dynamic in Texas than anywhere else.
Although Novak doesn’t disclose the name of the fictional West Texas town where his movie has been set, he does state that it is basically Pecos, Texas, while revealing that the place is about an hour southwest of the Odessa-Midland area.
Novak further revealed how he did his research for the movie by going on a few road trips with friends throughout the state. This place includes Billy Bob’s Texas, Alpine, and the world-famous honkytonk in Fort Worth. It was a fun trip as the gang caught a few Peewee league football games as well.

The Office actor B.J Novak made his directorial debut with the movie, Vengeance. While talking about his experience of making the movie, Novak explained how he hopes that people will take away that the feeling of the film is the message while adding how there are a lot of ideas in it because the characters have a lot of thoughts, and pointed out that even though the movie is a comedy.
While stating how the movie is also a thriller, and an idea movie, it is more about the feeling and deals with the idea of how unusual things go together and how people are when they are involved in the same room or even working on the same unlikely project.
