Unseen is the South African thriller, mystery, drama, and crime series created by Travis Taute and Daryne Joshua. The first season will have only 40 to 52 minutes long and six episodes to be officially released on Netflix.
Zenzi Mwale, a house cleaner is in search of her husband who went missing on the day he got released from prison. She gets violent and commits murder when she comes across a strong crime syndicate.
Zenzi gets blackmailed by a gangster. So, she must continue killing specific people to hide her truth. Meanwhile, she also continues searching for her husband. Slowly, she secretly uncovers the truth related to a corrupt bank and high-powered people.
The writers and Zenzi had worked together in one more film ‘Blood And Water.’ Netflix April 2021 All Movies & TV Shows – Coming has already launched an official trailer and teaser. According to the trailer, Zenzi seems does not look confident enough. The list of actors is quite impressive. But, they do not match the intensity and dark mood of the story.

1. Gail Mabalane As Zenzi Mwale
Gail Mabalane plays Zenzi Mwale. She is known for her roles in ‘The Road’ and ‘The Wild.’ She got the title of ‘Miss Kaizer Chiefs Africa’ in 2001. She has also participated in ‘South African Idols’ in 2010 and ‘Miss South Africa Teen’ in 2001.
Zenzi remains quiet and calm. However, she is strong and shows her strength in difficult situations. Women in South Africa can relate to her as they have a lot to face. She is glad to know that the South African context will be shared across the world by Netflix.
2. Vuyo Dabula As Max Mwale
The 46-years old South African model and actor, Vuyo Dabula, has drawn emotions for the character from his personal life. He knows that several actors remain jobless for a longer period with the low budget being another issue. So, he has stepped up and remembered his hard times for the emotional scenes in this series. Max Mwale is struggling with the law.
3. Hein De Vries As Joseph
Hein De Vries is known for his performance in Tomb Raider, The Mummy, and Fury Road. Talking about his character ‘Joseph,’ he is a loyal, sharp, and impulsive gangster. On the one hand, he struggles to maintain his moral values. On the other hand, he chooses loyalty. Finally, Joseph prioritizes loyalty over his moral values and chooses his way.
4. Dineo Langa As Naledi
The 35-year-old South African actress and TV personality, Dineo Langa, plays Naledi, Zenzi’s sister. The character is ambitious and strong and lives in Cape Town. She slowly finds out how her sister is struggling with the dangerous world.
According to Dineo Langa, ‘Unseen’ has provided her with an opportunity where several actors are suffering from unemployment. Similarly, the series focuses on the struggles present in South Africa. Thus, the series acts as a voice for them.
5. Rapulana Seiphemo As Blessing
Rapulana Seiphemo is a South African filmmaker, actor, writer, and lecturer. Blessing is ruthless and the mastermind behind several crimes. He finds an owner of the world in himself. The person that dares to cross him will get in trouble.
Blessing’s ego leads him to a downfall. He indirectly creates rivalry between him and Zenzi but forgets to look at her due to his overconfidence. Finally, he gets beaten by the house cleaner.
6. Ilse Klink As Detective Lyners
Ilse Klink is a 51-year-old South African singer and actress. Detective Lyners, along with Detective Morkel, is investigating the murders in Zenzi’s case. Detective Lyners gets manipulative by applying her motherly instincts to get information from various people involved in the case.
Lyners uses the same tactic with Zenzi. She is the good cop between her and Detective Morkel. She has portrayed a positive character here.
7. Abduragman Adams As Enrico Booysen And Shimmy Isaacs As Alice Booysen
The couple, Alice and Enrico Booysen, is Zenzi’s landlord. Enrico seems to be sympathetic to Zenzi in the beginning but turns out to be wicked. Abduragman finds his character original in this series because he will be a sexual predator this time though he has played the villain in other series too. He is glad to do a stunt in ‘Unseen.’
Shimmy wants to overcome her image as a comical actress through this role. She also said that she has tried hard to justify her character and remain silent as Alice.
8. Mothusi Magano as Lufuno Ngesi
The 44-year-old South African actor, Mothusi Magano, had worked in popular serials and won the award for the best actor in the lead role at Africa Movie Academy. He is glad that he will not kill or abduct anyone in this series.
Lufuno Ngesi is a journalist, author, and Zenzi’s co-worker who gets interested in her character. Mothusi can emotionally get connected to his character though he has no related experience. He will also represent the audience in South Africa.
