The Synopsis and Characters
The story unfolds in the late 19th century, where we first meet our strange, intriguing protagonist, Tsugaru Shinuchi. But here’s the twist, Tsugaru is not your typical detective. He’s half-demon and half-human, making him an unconventional yet compelling character. Together with his “loyal servant”, Shizuku Hasei, Tsugaru embarks on a mission across Europe to retrieve the remains of Aya Rindo, a young girl who was murdered by an unknown assailant.
But that’s not all. The only evidence they have is Aya’s disembodied head, which is mysteriously alive. As they travel through scenic European landscapes, uncovering dark secrets, Tsugaru and Shizuku are determined to solve the case behind Aya’s murder.
The characters include Tsugaru Shinuchi voiced by Taku Yashiro, Shizuku Hasei voiced by Makoto Koichi, Aya Rindo voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa, Annie Kerber voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro, Sherlock Holmes voiced by Shinichiro Miki, John H. Watson voiced by Masaki Aizawa and Arsene Lupin voiced by Mamoru Miyano.
To add more, Phantom is voiced by Hiro Shimono, James Moriarty is voiced by Wataru Yokojima, Aleister Crowley is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, Carmilla is voiced by Reina Kondo, Victor is voiced by Itary Yamamoto and finally, Jack is voiced by Soma Saito.
This anime adaptation, no doubt, has great potential. If the scriptwriters and composition directors do a fantastic job, then Undead Girl Murder Farce will get the chance to be one of the good anime released this year. With almost no complaints from the first volume of the manga, the anime can receive a strong opening and immediately create a large fan following. As mentioned before, Crunchyroll will stream the anime internationally but not in Japan, leaving Japanese viewers depending on local streaming networks.
