The Apple TV+ show “Trying” maintains its friendly appeal with each brand-new episode. It maintains its compassionate stance, just like its first two seasons, which were written by Andy Wolton. Throughout its run, it primarily focuses on the journey of its lead actors, Esther Smith and Rafe Spall’s Nikki and Jason. However, it also pays attention to Darren Boyd’s snobbish banker-turned-writer, Scott. The show tries to humanize him and show him as more than the snob he is constantly made fun of.
In the past episode, we saw how Jason attempts to repair Tyler’s broken lamp alongside his father. They finally say goodbye to Tyler’s beloved light after their failed attempt. At that point, Nikki receives a call informing her that they have been rejected as potential foster parents for the two adorable children. She asks Jason if he met her later and spoke with her about the same thing. She mentions that Jason bet their entire life savings to recover it because Bev knew the apartment was up for sale. After this acrimonious exchange, Jason is seen entering his information online to apply to become a taxi driver. Unlike other episodes, this one comes to a depressing conclusion.
Trying Season 3 Episode 6 Recap
Speaking with Jason (Rafe Spall), Nikki (Esther Smith) mentions Bev, the grandmother of Tyler (Mickey McAnulty) and Princess (Eden Togwell), whom she met the day before. The children are perplexed as to why she would follow her after seeing her picture with them. Jason speculates that it could simply be a coincidence, but Nikki is confident it cannot be. Later, when they meet Noah (Karl Collins). Their newly hired council employee, they talk about Bev and debate whether it is appropriate for birth parents to interact with their children’s lives in this way. She might watch, says Noah, if only to watch over her grandchildren.
While this is going on, Scott (Darren Boyd) and Karen (Sian Brooke) discuss Scott’s publishing offer. He babbles on about new-age publishing and how quickly time has flown by, so it is hardly surprising that he was able to secure this deal. She appears shocked by this sudden offer and unsure of whether or not he merits it. He enquires whether she can be more optimistic about his success because their conversation shows her negativity. She tells him she is there for him and that he shouldn’t feel bad.
At home, Jason and Tyler have a discussion about the value of having the ability to let go when parting with Tyler’s cherished lamp. Tyler and his being close, he wants to use this lamp to teach Tyler a lesson about value. While Karen and Nikki are shopping, she spots someone who resembles Bev in the store she brought Princess back to in the previous episode. When she notices this woman exiting the store, she decides to follow her. Ultimately, she discovers that it is not Bev but a different woman. She is then arrested for shoplifting by the security guard Princess was alarmed after she fled the store with some of the merchandise. In a pregnancy-related tantrum, Karen expresses concerns about becoming a mother at her age and the accompanying anxieties. It begins as a simple act to get out of this situation but ends up making both sisters cry.

Discussion At The Publisher’s Office
Later, when Scott arrives at this publisher’s office, he meets a radical female author who is a feminist and shares some advice from her book. Being a straight, white man, White tries to impart her teachings to her. That makes up for the show’s writers’ cleverly crafted dialogue, which is cut off by the publisher. He mentions Scott as a great writer of satire and parody, which irritates Scott. But he makes the decision to go to work. There, he is greeted with a suggestion that his work is published as a fantastic satire in the comedy section.
The publisher begins singing Scott’s creation of a privileged, white character that his readers will find amusing. One more office worker brings in the cover page they made for Scott’s book, which depicts him in the same light. Scott comments on it, pointing out that it isn’t satire and that he created the character himself. He claims his work is thought-provoking and does not want to be dismissed as silly. He exits the publisher’s office because of the disrespectful mockery directed at his valuable work.
The Sour Arguments Continue
In the meantime, Noah and Bev are to be met by Nikki and Jason. As they talk about Princess and Tyler’s future, Bev brings up a few incidents that might make it difficult for Nikki and Jason to be foster parents. Nikki is upset by this and leaves the meeting quickly. When Bev comes across her, she gives the kids a box of cookies. Later, when she and Jason have a chance to speak, they discuss their encounter. During their conversation, he revealed critical information about their financial situation that could endanger them.
After that, Jason calls Scott and inquires about the loaned money so that it can be doubled. Scott shares his financial knowledge and mentions that the amount has decreased from what he had donated. Jason, perplexed by his stoic objectivity in this matter, grows increasingly frustrated and shares the information that he might lose his apartment due to his family’s financial situation. He talks about how difficult and expensive it is to raise kids and be a parent. That causes Scott, who will soon become a parent, to open his eyes. He returns to the publisher’s office and requests to put the deal back on the table because he recognizes the value of the money.
