The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is giving Nintendo Switch players a major reason to revisit Geralt of Rivia’s acclaimed RPG. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that players who already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the original Nintendo Switch will be able to claim the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the remastered edition for free when it launches on September 29, 2026.
The confirmation was provided through CD Projekt RED’s official support FAQ, which states,
“If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered for free on Nintendo Switch 2 once it’s released.”
The upgrade applies to existing owners and was initially confirmed for digital copies before an update confirmed that physical Switch copies will also be eligible. CD Projekt RED has also announced that the game’s two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are now included with the base game. CD Projekt RED
The Nintendo Switch 2 release will be a native version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered and will introduce significant visual, performance, and gameplay improvements. The remaster includes upgraded textures, improved lighting, enhanced combat, refined movement and traversal, revamped mount handling, improved monster behaviors, new finishers, an updated skill tree, transmogrification, accessibility improvements, and an expanded photo mode.
According to the official announcement, the remaster is designed to modernize the RPG while preserving the original adventure that follows Geralt as he searches for Ciri across the war-torn Northern Kingdoms. The package will also prepare players for Songs of the Past, a new paid expansion scheduled for 2027 that will send Geralt to the mysterious new region of Letten. CD Projekt RED
