Saber Interactive’s newly appointed Chief Business Officer, Steve Allison, has eased fan concerns over the future of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, while also seemingly hinting that the highly anticipated sequel could be part of the studio’s 2028 release lineup. Although Saber has since clarified that no official launch windows have been announced, Allison’s comments have sparked widespread discussion within the gaming community.

The discussion originated on Reddit, where a fan questioned whether Allison’s arrival—following his previous roles at Epic Games—would lead to more aggressive monetization for Space Marine 2 and its sequel. Allison responded directly, outlining Saber’s publishing philosophy and reaffirming that microtransactions are not part of the company’s long-term strategy. His remarks were later verified as authentic by Saber Interactive in a statement to IGN.

Saber promises to avoid aggressive microtransactions

Responding to concerns from the community, Allison emphasized that Saber’s approach is built around selling complete games rather than relying on extensive post-launch monetization.

“My job isn’t to squeeze money from Saber products through tactics like that.”

He explained that the company intends to continue offering free post-launch content alongside select paid DLC, while acknowledging that the controversial Space Marine 2 Chapter Voice Pack DLC served as a valuable lesson for the development team.

“As a company Saber has never pursued MTX. It’s not how we do our products. We sell the main game with a free DLC plan for the community and may do paid DLC.”

Allison also pointed to his previous publishing work on Alan Wake Remastered and Alan Wake 2, noting that those projects likewise avoided microtransaction-driven business models.

Comments hint at a possible 2028 launch window

The biggest talking point from Allison’s Reddit reply was his reference to Saber’s future publishing roadmap.

“We are preparing to do more self publishing… in preparation of the lineup forming for 2028 that includes Space Marine, Wick, hopefully KOTOR remake and a few unannounced titles.”

Many fans interpreted the statement as an indication that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber’s John Wick game, and the long-awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake could all arrive in 2028.

However, Saber later downplayed the speculation in a statement to IGN, explaining that Allison was

“speaking broadly, not officially, about the future slate of Saber games.”

The studio added that no release dates or launch windows have been confirmed for any upcoming titles.

The KOTOR remake remains one of gaming’s most mysterious projects after its 2021 reveal. Earlier this year, Saber’s Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits confirmed to IGN that the remake is

“still in development,”

though he declined to share additional details. Reports from Game File have also suggested that development is now being led by Mad Head Games following Aspyr’s departure from the project.

For now, players should treat Allison’s 2028 reference as an informal comment rather than an official announcement. Still, it offers the clearest indication yet that Saber is planning an ambitious lineup for the coming years, with Space Marine 3 expected to remain one of the publisher’s biggest releases.
