The War Zone Plot
The story begins with a rural house in winter in Devon. Tom, the 15-year-old boy, is disappointed after moving to a home in a rural area in London because he misses his friends. Moreover, interaction with family members is weird.
Tom’s dad is a cheerful guy working in the home-furniture industry. Tom also has an 18-year-old sister, Jessie, and a pregnant mom who soon goes into labor, and the whole family gets driven to a hospital by the dad.
The car crashes, but fortunately, none gets hurt hard, and the mum gives birth to a beautiful baby girl. In the next scene, the mum is in the maternity ward, and the remaining family members get treated in the hospital.
Jessie keeps going nude before Tom, and they take it casually. It seems to be a happy family, but it is not. One day, after coming from shopping with Mom, the disappointed Tom sees Jessie and their dad sitting in a bathtub with no clothes. Tom confronts Jessie, but she denies it.
Later, Jessie introduces her boyfriend, Nick, to Tom on a beach and disappears with him, leaving Tom alone. One day, the dad informs the family that he is going for a run. Furious, Tom follows him with a camera and watches him forcefully getting intimate with Jessie.
Broken Tom throws the camera into the sea and later asks Jessie to stop it. When he goes on a London trip with Jessie, her friend, Carol, tries to seduce him until Jessie appears there. It was Jessie who ordered Carol to do so. Meanwhile, Carol also indulged in a physical relationship with Jessie.
One night, the whole family takes the unwell baby to the hospital and finds blood in her diaper. Seeing it, Tom immediately leaves after asking his mum not to leave the baby alone with their dad. Meanwhile, the remaining family members have reached home.
The mum cannot digest the statement uttered by Tom. Thus, she calls the dad to talk about it. When Tom reaches home, he gets confronted by his furious dad. He argues with Tom and attacks him. He says that Tom is breaking the family and must end up in care. Meanwhile, frightened Jessie covers her ears with her palms.
The War Zone Ending Explained
Instead of wasting more time on adamant Tom, the dad leaves for the hospital to see his wife and the baby. Meanwhile, Jessie and Tom get intimate, wrestle, and cuddle. Tom got attracted to Jessie, and she did not stop him from doing so. She stopped Carol from getting closer to Tom out of jealousy.
Jessie thanks Tom for withstanding their dad and asks how to deal with the mess. So, they get dressed and enter their dad’s room after he returns to ask him to stop doing so. However, Dad disagrees with having done it.
Instead, Dad accuses Tom of being psychologically affected as he misses his friends after shifting to London. According to him, Tom puts such ridiculous ideas in Jessie’s head. Jessie thinks that an argument would lead to nowhere. Thus, she stops Tom for a while.
Dad’s arrogance made Tom furious. He grabbed the kitchen knife and stabbed Dad in the stomach, which led to Dad’s death. He screamed in pain and fell into the pool of blood before taking his last breath.
Jessie and Tom run to the abandoned bunker, where she tries to comfort him. In the ending scene, they get worried about their future, and Tom closes the door to the bunker. The secrets between those siblings will never come out.
The movie triggered an emotional outpouring for a viewer who ran from the theatre to pull a fire alarm. Meanwhile, other viewers appreciated Lara Belmont’s acting. They also think that the two leading teenage characters in the movie must end up with counseling. Some viewers find the affection between Tom and Jessie incestuous, and some do not.
