The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 16 Recap
Previously in The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 16, Maggie was prepared for the war Hornsby is going to bring. Elijah saw his troops heading towards them. She left Hershel in the protection of Negan. Amidst this, Daryl, Aaron, and Gabriel find themselves still trying to figure out Hornsby’s plan as they travel with a few soldiers. When the moment comes, they take down each one of them. One of the dying soldiers told Daryl that Hornsby wanted to clear the field.
Meanwhile, Maggie’s group took out a group of Reapers and Commonwealth soldiers by luring them into a trap inside a house. An explosion managed to take them all out. But one woman came out of the flames to attack them. That turned out to be Leah.
Maggie had to part ways with Elijah and Lydia to lure Leah on the wrong path. Leah managed to outsmart Maggie and took her out. She later tied Maggie to a chair in a cabin. They went on to have a conversation about how they just ended up killing each other’s friends and family.
Leah struggled to kill Maggie as she wanted her to suffer. In no time, Maggie managed to set herself free. A brawl between the two women ensued until Daryl came and killed Leah with one shot to the head. By that time, even Hornsby and his crew had arrived, but Daryl and Maggie managed to escape and reunite with their people.
Amidst all of this, Eugene and his group continued finding evidence against Sebastian Milton. Max, despite being nervous and almost crossing paths with Sebastian, manages to bring information to the group. Connie didn’t get the proof of Milton’s corruption, but the information they had was enough to create chaos and doubt among the people. The Episode closed with newspapers questioning Milton’s government and Commonwealth taking over Alexandria and Hilltop.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 16 Review
The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead Season 11 shows what it does the best. Probably, more like every conflict the show has ever portrayed. Except for the part of walkers, we didn’t see much from them. Apart from the teasing of the coming confrontation between Hornsby’s army and Maggie’s group, it was a conclusion to the story of Reapers. The last remaining of them, led by Leah, took the fight to get revenge on Maggie.
Hornsby serves as the leader who would rather put others to the task than risk his own life. This sees him hiring Leah. The motives of both align with each other perfectly. Leah wanted Maggie’s head, and that’s the job Hornsby was offering to her. Also, Leah, whom we are supposed to see as a total badass, didn’t work for us, especially when she was willing to lead her people into a trap.
Then comes the highly anticipated confrontation between Leah and Maggie. It fizzled out for us. We expected a lot of tension and a good exchange of dialogues. It all came down to the fact they only wanted to take out each other’s families.
Similarly, the potential romance for Daryl with Leah didn’t live up as well. Perhaps there was never a room for romance between Daryl and Leah. Especially because he didn’t think twice before taking her out and choosing Maggie, his family, over her, as the story of Reapers comes to a wrap, we believe the coming part three of The Walking Dead Season 11 will be more of the war with Commonwealth. From inside as well as out on the field.
