Isle Of The Dead is set in New York City and is currently in the works at AMC. Isle Of The Dead’s storyline will revolve around Negan and Maggie as they battle walkers in New York and the show is set to debut next year. The new show will envision Manhattan which has been cut from the mainland a long time ago and is filled with the living and dead alike, hence, titled Isle Of The Dead.
The first season will be released on AMC and AMC+ and will consist of six episodes. The show’s writer and co-executive producer, Eli Jorne, will serve as the showrunner, while the original show’s stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffery Dean Morgan will reprise their roles as Maggie and Negan. AMC released a teaser poster featuring an ominous door with, “Don’t Open, Dead Inside”, written on it, along with New York City’s familiar skyline in the background, as part of the announcement.
In a statement, Morgan said that he was delighted that Negan and Maggie’s journey is going to continue. He also said that he was beyond excited to continue his journey in New York City with Lauren and that it has been such a ride walking in Negan’s shoes. The actor also said that it will be very interesting to see what the zombie apocalypse has done to “the greatest city in the world”. It will be exciting to see walkers at the Statue Of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and 5th Avenue.
He said that walkers in an urban setting have always been a cool image, which is true, but we think this will take that to another level altogether. Morgan also said that it is the story that Eli Jorne has cooked up that is even better than the amazing backdrop. He then went on to say that Isle Of The Dead is going to reinvent the TWD universe and that the fans should buckle up. He then concluded by saying that they simply cannot wait, neither can we Jeffery, and gave a huge thank you to Dan McDermott, Scott Gimple, and AMC for having them back for more.
