Peacock recently dropped the full-length trailer for The Tattooist of Auschwitz. It gives a glimpse into the powerful love story of Lali and Gita. The trailer, with music by Hans Zimmer, shows their struggles and courage. We see older Lali, played by Keitel, dealing with his past trauma and love for his late wife.
Hauer-King portrays the younger Lali, showing his love for Gita amid tough times. Plot
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a six-part series based on a best-selling book by Heather Morris. It tells the true story of Lali Sokolov, a Jewish man in a concentration camp during World War Two. Lali had to tattoo ID numbers on prisoners’ arms.
Hauer-King acts as young Lali Sokolov, a Jewish man from Slovakia sent to Auschwitz. He becomes the tattooist, using his cleverness and courage to survive. Anna Próchniak plays Gita, a fellow prisoner who meets Lali at the camp. Harvey Keitel stars as older Lali, sharing his story with author Heather Morris.
Melanie Lynskey portrays Heather, who listens to Lali’s tale. Jonas Nay plays Stefan Baretzki, a troubled Nazi guard at Auschwitz. The cast also includes Yali Topol Margalith, Ilan Galkoff, Marcel Sabat, Tallulah Haddon, and Mili Eshet.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz, based on Heather Morris’s book, is directed by Tali Shalom-Ezer, known for her emotional storytelling. The series has writers Evan Placey, Gabbie Asher, and Jacquelin Perske, with Morris and Naomi Gryn as consultants.
