This announcement was made on February 25, 2025, through the anime’s official website, accompanied by a fresh visual that teases the upcoming storyline. Fans can expect the continuation of Naofumi Iwatani’s journey as he steps into a new chapter filled with challenges and alliances.
The anime, based on Aneko Yusagi’s light novel series, has captivated audiences with its compelling story and character growth. Illustrated by Seira Minami, the novel was adapted into a manga by Aiya Kyuu before receiving an anime adaptation by Kinema Citrus. With three seasons already released, the studio is now preparing for an exciting continuation in season four.
First Look at The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4
The new promotional visual for the upcoming season features Naofumi Iwatani seated on a throne, hinting at his evolving role in the Siltvelt Succession Arc. His trusted allies Raphtalia, Filo, Sadina, Fohl, and Atla are positioned around him, standing or seated along the stairway leading to the throne. The image introduces two new characters from Siltvelt, further expanding the anime’s universe.
Werner, one of the newly revealed characters, represents the Shusaku race, one of Siltvelt’s four most powerful groups. A devoted follower of the Shield Hero, he will be voiced by Takeo Ootsuka, known for his roles as Aqua Hoshino in Oshi no Ko and Jinshi in The Apothecary Diaries.
Jaralis, another new character, is a member of the Lion Beastman race and holds a high-ranking position in Siltvelt. He will be voiced by Jirou Saitou, recognized for portraying Theo Magath in Attack on Titan and Denken in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. These characters are expected to play a significant role in the upcoming storyline.
Shield Fest 2025: A Special Live Event for Fans
Ahead of the anime’s return, The Rising of the Shield Hero will host Shield Fest The LIVE of the Shield Hero on June 15, 2025. The event promises an exciting lineup, featuring performances by MADKID and Chiai Fujikawa, both known for contributing to the anime’s theme songs.
