The Australian reality TV series The Masked Singer season 4 finale has arrived. The winner has been revealed and unmasked. Here’s all you need to know about the show. The Masked Singer is an Australian reality TV series featuring aspiring singers. It is a show where all the participants go through a series of elimination processes to handpick the winner. The show is the Australian version of the international reality show Masked Singer, which has its origin in the South-Korean King Of Mask Singer. It has been going on for 4 seasons now, with the finale of the fourth season approaching soon. The show is produced by Warner Bros International Television and runs on Network 10.
The reality show was nominated once for the AACTA Awards in 2019 for Best Entertainment Program. The Masked Singer was more than fortunate to get Lindsay Lohan as the panelist in the opening season of the show, though she didn’t appear in the other seasons due to distance and COVID protocols. The only panelist to stick through was Dave Hughes, the stand-up comedian.

What Makes The Show Different?
It was first released on 23rd September 2019 with 12 participants hosted by Osher Günsberg. Panelists who joined in the first season were Lindsay Lohan, Jackie O, Dannii Minogue, and Dave Hughes. In addition to the regular panelists, there was the fifth seat for guest panelists that was filled throughout the show by comedians like Luke McGregor and Nazeem Hussain. On the first day of the premiere, the viewer count went beyond 1 million. The show was able to hold that position for the whole season, which was commendable.
The Masked Singer is not like other reality music competitions. The show has laid out rules that differentiate it from other competitive music shows.
- The first rule is what the title suggests. Contestants have to mask their faces for anonymity and change their names to “stage names,” which usually go by themes each season.
- While choosing their costumes for the stage, the performers are given choices. These costumes also act as a clue to their identity.
- The contestants are suggested to keep their conversations short on stage so that their identity remains hidden.
- It is a pre-recorded series with live audiences. Those audiences are made to sign an NDA, so they are bound to keep the secret of what happened in the show to prevent spoilers.
- There are clue packages for the audience to guess the performers, which are often tricky and leave the audience sweating.
- It is a no-phone zone. This rule makes no distinction and applies to everyone, from judges to audiences. Before the camera rolls, everyone’s phones are confiscated to limit spoilers.
- Contestants are not allowed to talk to everyone. This is why some crew members are given shirts with “You can talk to me” written on them so that participants know who to ask for help.
